In the past I have used a similar setup on off road race vehicle and really like them. So when I saw they were available for our Toyota from Trail Gear I ordered some up.

Takes about ~1hour to do both sides maybe a little more for the guys with hubs. My bearing preload and grease was spot on and fresh enough that all I did was the upgrade.

Down to the old stuff

New beefy nut (~10mm thick) installed with preload set

Locking ring installed. The ring has plenty of hole options to get and hold your preload exactly the way you want it.

A nice product and I will never need to buy a star washer or worry about loosing my preload or a nut loosening again.

EDIT - I did swap during the week not the weekend:oops:

Wasn't aware of this option so thanks for sharing! I need to rebuild my front axle before Cruise Moab so this will get added to the list.

I just installed those. They're awesome. Same stock setup on my Nissan Frontier. The star washer is a really stupid design. These are a win. Picked up this to make installation even quicker.

Did this fix anything for you?

Yeah .... It fixed my exhaust leak :hillbilly:

Not sure what else you mean. Fixed the fluttering noise under accel and seemingly bit of sluggishness not assoc with 37s on 4.10s

I left myself open for that one! Touche. Where was your exhaust leak? Could you hear it only when motor was cold or hot or all the time? Hear it @ idle or only under throttle?

That's odd. Did you have a 2.5mm key to try it? Even this guy said 2.5mm:

Mine came from CoresWest in a vacuum sealed package:meh:

Checked I got the light weight cheap stuff:( and the 2mm is still on the bench:confused:
The possibility Im wrong existed but I carry a full set of allens (that I hope I never need on the trail) so Im cover if that case.

Indeed!

80 Tech: Finding solutions to problems I never even knew I had!

Leak was between the ex manifold and y pipe. Fun lil bastids to slide in there and get up in the recessed groove.

Had a leak I could hear all the time. Cold hot idle accel. Most noticeable on slow accell like pulling out of drive or park space.

I think my EGTs may be out of whack as I've been going through these rather fast.... And before someone says it yeah I tried OEM too; these were on the shelf though and none seem Better than others.

Oh and cruised the woods with a 44 an LV and a 73 at old north state cruisers volunteer trail day in uwharrie forest. Plenty of hands on the guardrail duty so I ran trash patrol and found the aoe is great at holding a bud light laden trash bag

And even found signs that @cruiserdan might have been here at some point.

If not at least now ya know we got all the same stuff over here....just different

Have hit my head a few times on my grab handles so my 13 year old son and I were brainstorming. He whipped up a paracord handle. This is a pic of the DS entry assist handle (or whatever it's called). Going to have him make them for all of my handles. The two strings I have pulled off to the side have now been cut and melted. Just used D Ring hardware and the existing holes and screw. Will trim the D Ring hardware so the extra hole isn't there. Will probably paint it too to make it fancy. And it passes my field testing. I weight 240 lbs and am 6'2".

That's a great idea!
Though you can buy pre-colored paracord, the paint may wear off after awhile.

Yes. Not going to paint the paracord. Going to paint the hardware (D rings). Ordered a bunch of paracord today to have him make the rest of the handles. Have gotten some interest from guys to buy them so I'll be throwing a shingle up for my 13 year old son over in the vendor section. He can help fund his own Cruiser addiction! :)

Went wheeling, used the LC as a log skidder.

^ it snows in Florida? That hill on the left, is that the highest elevation in the state? :flipoff2:
Hehe, that's in North Georgia! Florida highest point is like 350 feet, and that might be counting the height of the tree on top of said hill.

Oh, and no snow in Florida. Me, I drool over all the 80 Snow & Mountain porn that everyone posts.

Of course, if you want a video of an 80 driving along the beach, I got that covered. Blah...

TG instructions say 2.5mm. Going to order one of these shortly.
