What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Scangauge. Mounted under the hvac controls using Velcro conveniently left behind by the PO. Used a OBDII splitter to maintain a separate port under the hood and gas latches. Will probably mount the spare port with Velcro at some point to get rid of the zip ties. Flipping the OBDII port allows the fuse box cover to close perfectly. I love my parents but the internet and MUD taught me everything I know…

Mine was installed there when I bought it. It's too low. You'll find you can't even look at it when you're moving. This is much better.

Yeah I knew it wasn’t the ideal location. But it was out of the way and already set up. Also, I really only got the gauge to have actual coolant temp and average fuel economy. Don’t need to look at that very often.

Uses it to deliver a canoe. Getting ready to swap a broken light, do an oil change, and install a slee headlight harness.

Picked up this pig while my 80 gets a good overhaul, had to replace the alternator day one. Just took it to DEQ and got plates. Doing a tune up coil packs, plugs, air filter and oil change. Might keep it around or sell not sure yet.

Copart? Eugene?

Cheers

Putting the 30 ton press to work! The @trailtaylor press kit is legit. All new bushings going in on everything. Also got all new body mount bushings all the way around took a couple weeks to come in from various vendors in japan and the local dealer.

New sway bars!! Will see if the front will require grinding to clearance the mounts on the axle so it will articulate.

Install the rear alone and then drive it. You might find the front is overkill.

Agreed! I look at mine all the time. Temp, RPM, air intake, and fuel economy (LOL).

Took off at lunch today in the name of watching March Madness with the full intention of working on the cruiser! Got the ABS/LSPV delete finished and also finished rebuilding the new rear axles (RCV 300M) and got the rear third member with the new 4.88’s and ARB air locker installed today! Almost forgot the new DBA brakes as well!

What did you do for the dowel's
It looks like you just left the stock ones lose ?
The way RCV did that part bugs me.
If they would have just left the dowel size the same it would’ve be much better IMO.

Well I did leave the stock ones. There were no instructions or videos i could find so I just went with what was in there. Any idea what I was actually supposed to do so I can fix it?

You still watched even if the games were on in the background.

Radio install. All went perfect except the 10 amp fuse in the back of the radio blows every time on startup! Factory radio works fine so I’m assuming problem is either with the wiring harness that crutchfield provided or internal to the radio. I paid $27 to have them wire up the metra harness to the Sony wiring. Hoping they just messed something up and there is an issue with the ground. Tomorrow’s job

Speaker ring can be found here free of charge.

100% infill with petg should hold up for years.

You will need to drill new holes for the additional pins. My kit came with the drill bit. I ended up having to drill out the old pins. They are case hardened.

I bought a new set of hubs pre-drilled from @cruiseroutfit You can also drill them yourself or have a local machine shop do it.

I originally thought I would go with a 4 large + 2 small dowels to allow the use of the original toyota axles in an emergency but went with all large dowels for maximum strength.

I just put a new head in and was told almost all new ones need a 15 amp. My old was 10 and it blew as well.
