Looks great - well done. Out of curiosity, any reason you went with base/clear vs. the original single stage paint?

I’m fairly competent at paint correction but a bit of an amateur when it comes to actually painting whole panels. That said I can’t get a 2k single stage in a rattle can but I can in the 2 stage. Additionally I like the idea of having thicker and more durable clear coat plus the more forgiving nature of getting imperfections out. Single stage can be quite difficult to get imperfections out without burning through (I did that twice 😂)

Rebuilt the '97 LX-450 engine to go in the '94 FZJ-80.
Had 290K on the LX and 350K on the FZJ.
FZJ-80 is a frame off restoration that blew a head gasket.
Only thing not renewed on it are the transmission and transfer case.

Past month doing paint correction using a clay bar, cutting, and sealing. Drivers side door and hood were beyond salvaging so I decided to take them down to metal and remove any rust. Repainted fenders and door using 2k urethane primer, 202 black, and 2k urethane clear coat. Wet sanded orange peel out (mostly), cut & buffed. Hood still in progress.

So I mentioned my cruise issue a while ago and @BILT4ME mentioned his throttle cable.

I was doing an oil change today and noticed the cruise cable was quite slacked.....

So I adjusted it. I'm driving a few hours this weekend and will test the cruise then.

Got the main drawer fastened to the slides so I can fully extend it now. Added the divider that will be the bottom of the front compartment. Still need lids and a front face and bezel.

Looks snazzy....the worst thing about sliders (it's almost impossible not to use them) is all that space wasted. When you look at total volume it really adds up. .75 inches x 40+ x 8+ (and more in a lot of cases) inches really adds up to a lot of wasted volume and that's only on one side.

Western Automotive Machine Shop did my head for $850.
I was expecting $1300. Took 10 weeks though.
Gunn, on Federal, also does them.
Start there before buying all the other part$$$.
Gaskets alone cost over $600 (if you can find them).
I bought everything I could from Rock Auto.
I couldn't find oversized piston under $1100 (JE Pistons).
I was able to ream the piston ring ridge in the cylinders and hone.
Used original pistons, new stock sized rings, new standard bearings for mains and rods.
As you can see all the bearings came out to 0.003" clearance (perfect).
I'm dropping it in next weekend (Roxborough).

Nice aluminium work.
On my deck I put a sheet that folds forward when the tops of the rear seats are down.
Gives me a 6 foot + deck for an airbed.
