What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

After lifting from 3"-4" and adding Fox shocks, I was hearing a growl and vibrator while driving. @roadstr6 suggested the front sway bar links. Changed those out and the bushings, but @NLXTACY sway bar bushings caps came a day late and it's raining "cats and dogs" all week.

It's likely your front or rear driveshaft. Any time you go beyond thee 3" mark you will begin to fight the never ending growl, especially at high speeds. I have been lucky on the front but replace the rear u joints and balance every couple years, The front will fix with part time conversion or a dc shaft. It's why most here don't go beyond the 3" even with 37's.
Also adjusting your rear arms with the bump in lift will help.

They are actually very common, even on here. It's probably the 20's throwing you off, 95% are probably 17". Need to address painting the hub/ axle caps yet or find a better solution, but low on the list right now.

I thought it might be the DS, but they are good. I have double cardon front and rear, also castor correction front and rear. It was the links. They were shot.

Right. I mainly meant the size. If I ever go to 37’s from stock wheels (w/ 34-35’s now), wondering what those 20’s feel like aired down on the rough stuff...

Ah, gotcha, well probably like crap lol. I don't do a lot of heavy rock crawling but I did come from a 18"/ 35 combo(tire to rim ratio fairly close) and they did fine on what I do but the rims took a beating. Figured with true bead locks I can pull them and grind them out or replace and be like new . Also why I did the 13.5" and the beadlock, figuring I can air down to next to nothing and still get home with little to no tire pressure and near bullet proof tires if I have to.
We will find out this summer! I was thinking more the way they handle on the highway, carrying the motorcycle on the back(my rock crawler) and ~3500lb towing on occasion.
First impression is they are super quiet on the road, handle amazing and ride smooth so far. Even for 148lbs each....
Not 100% I like the look yet but , it works.

Yeah my 80 that I wheel most often still has the flares, I do like the extra coverage, but am always concerned I will lose 1 or 3 each trip.

Didn't get a chance to work on the Land Cruiser but did do some work on my wife's RAV4. We ordered a hitch and wiring harness from E-trailer for her RAV4 as we are bringing some furniture back from SD next weekend. The hitch was a straight bolt-on, the wiring harness was plug and play. The only issue I ran into was getting the wiring up to the battery. The only grommet is on the passenger side where the factory harness comes out. I will have to get some more wire and route it along there unless someone knows of a constant + on the driver's sides under the dash.

Swapped my beefy DIY roof rack over to some used Prinsu side rails, i cut down and reused the trail tailor gutter mounts, since the rails I got did not have the mounts. I need to shim a couple of them so I used the trail tailor brackets, but it got too cold to be outside. Must have dropped below 50 out here in California. Time to hibernate. For now the Alucab awning will stay off. I have some plans for the 80, but if not I will make brackets to mount the awning back on.

Upgraded to '96 FZJ rotors, calipers, and brake lines. Flushed the entire brake system....again. Seems like a neverending maintenance item, and the fluid is always dark.

I'm getting a non-locked, full float, rear axle assembly, end of this week. I'll go through it hub to hub, before swapping it out. I'll be putting my third in it, since it's already locked and geared.

Still on the hunt for a suitable inline check valve, for my 4Runner brake booster.

Mines leaking too but my reservoir still is full. Not sure if it's power steering or oil. My oil level is good too.

I took the old girl out to do some predator calling and camping for our first valentine's date. The wind picked up at first light so the predator calling didn't work out to well.

The girl had a special moment this trip.

This trip was the first real test of my cargo/sleeping contraption. I am super happy with it. It held all my crap in place, provided protection for my rifles and optics, and it worked great for sleeping.

I got bored and did some 1 wheel drive poser flexing on some cattle equipment..... at least I was off the pavement lol.

The only downside to winter camping is the 13 hours of dark. My back won't let me sleep more than 6 hrs, especially camping, so I had to kill some time. When camping this equates to drinking too many beers, sitting around the fire, getting bored and taking glamor shots, and the best part, pollo marinado on the fire.

I'd love some solitude time like that. Especially if it was something that "needed done" so I could relax while being where I needed to be to accomplish a needed task.

Indeed! We ran up to Sadona on Saturday and hit some BLM trails. Ran into a fellow c80 owner camping on some high ground. So many trails, and we are running short on time. Headed to Prescot today, the best thing so far about AZ is the ability to simply turn down a path... and go. See where it leads. We also spotted this guy up in Jerome on Friday. We also spoted a Fj55 in Jerome. Cant miss it, and it seems like its not going anywhere for some time.
