I have 16 hrs left in Iceland before we head to Paris. Running out of time!

What part of Ohio are you in. I'm just north of Columbus in Westerville. My 80 is in my avatar, minus the Info rack and lights.

I live in Lakewood, the west side of Cleveland. I am slowly getting closer to having a Cruiser I can drive like it's meant to be driven. Perhaps sometime you show me how to do so in Ohio? I have sliders, a rear locker and a motor to get under it then it's firggen time to rock.
Go Tribe!!

For sure. I only know of a few places in Southern Ohio. Typically I'll just drive down to KY though.

Freaking cool! What is that, a bj70?

Yep! Saw on the side of the road. Whipped a u turn and knocked on his door. His dad bought it new in 1988. He uses it as a "tractor" to pull the trailer with hay on it for his sheep. He drives it a couple of days for two months a year. Said he will have to talk to his dad about selling it. He seemed willing to let it go. We'll see...

I would trade my LC for a Patrol Y61 and not look back.

Because we did not have them imported here it does not make them less capable.

It's still a Nissan...

That's not a BJ70, but rather the light duty version of the 70-series. The one on your photo is an LJ70, and depending on the year it might have an LT or 2LT engine. There are several differences of the light duty and heavy duty versions of the 70-series. If you are serious about buying one, I would read into some of the modifications people make to the LT variation engines to prevent overheating issues (intercooler for example).

I don't know a lot about 70 series, what are the visual cues that tell you this is an LJ rather than a BJ?

On the photo above, the wider front end, the turn signal/marker lights are the first clues that is the light-duty version of the 70-series. For that model vintage, the heavy duty version looks like these:

The chrome and non-chrome differences are based on the different trim levels, but hope these show what I mean. I borrowed these photos from various posts here in MUD.

The drivetrain (engines, transmissions, axles) on the Light-Duty ones is very different from the drivetrain on a Heavy-Duty ones. In some markets the light-duty versions are called Prado and the link below talks about a few of the differences:

Difference between 70 series and a Prada (look at post #7 as a good starting point, though not all the bullets listed on post #7 are correct)

Hope this helps.

I'm really only seeing the corner marker lights, lol. Coilspring vs. leaf spring would be easy enough to tell if you were standing by one and couldn't pop the hood.
