What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (39 Viewers)

This is my first weekend of LC ownership. I drove it home yesterday. On thing I noticed was that the only one of the speakers seemed to be working, I figured the stock speakers were blown and I planned on replacing them anyway.

I pulled the door panels off and to my surprise one of the POs had replaced all the door speakers. Kenwoods in front and Eclipses in back. Then I found the issue... Who ever installed them had simply put the wire through the hole in the terminal and wound it around. Pulled all the speakers and soldered a length of new speaker wire to each. 8 wire nuts later all the door speakers are working again.

Then I pulled the passenger side cargo panel to see if the sub was the same way. This is what I found

I have an 8in mounted in a simple box with an amp that I might though in the back until I have time to mount it behind the panel.

If you do add a new sub, just don't use the existing signals back there.
Here's why:

Oh, and welcome!

Got to show off some of El Guapo skills at a church work-day. I pulled down the first section, and then a buddy decided that he could do the same thing with his 2wd Ford Ranger. Well, after a lot of backing and surging, and tearing up the grass, he got a section down. He tried another section, with about six guys in the bed for traction on his one spinning tire, before our work-day leader finally stopped him. Then, I got back to getting it done!

Thank you for the welcome and good looking out. I plan on replacing the head unit with a Scion unit or something aftermarket and bypassing the amp altogether. It is my understanding that this will cut off the signal to the dash tweeters and 3rd row speakers, is this correct?

Depending on the head unit I go with, I may have to go with speaker level inputs. Can I draw the from the existing wiring to the 3rd row speakers with a bit of splicing behind the dash?

I need to do a bit more research on the Scion head units. Some that I have seen have line level outs on the back presumably for a sub and others have 3 pairs of RCAs.

1). The day I bought it.

2). New 315/75/16's with no lift.

3). 851+ MAF 11/2" spacers up front, 863 rears, Slee Plates to correct castor installed today.

Drives smooth down the road now.

4). Next to the wife's Mountaineer. LOL

More to come soon.

I'm here at Levenworth as well, but showing family from Hawaii Wa. I really wanted to go if
my family wasn't here. Were you guy's affected buy the flash flood warning? We got rained on pretty heavy in the afternoon.

Washed. Waxed the hood. Far enough away as to not see the custom pin strips.

Did a little easy off roading:
