Well, just got back from vacation....

You guys neglected to tell me it was Jeep Week in Moab....(sigh) Fortunately, after wheeling on Fins and Things trail we stopped at Milts (must place to eat after wheeling) and ran into some awesome guys from Sexton Offload in ParkCity(?). Nate in an awesome buggy, another guy in a 1st gen 4Runner rolling on 40's, and another guy in an 80 series. Great bunch of guys that were headed to Hell's Revenge for an afternoon session.

At any rate, we had a blast on our first Moab trail. That being said, I really need to get out w/some of you guys, I'm certainly not an expert driver and was probably using lockers when I didn't need to (frenchy's fin)

Airing down while the co-pilots took a leak.

First hill that got my attention.

It's mandatory for Little Dude to bike and be my spotter any time we're on trails.

Frenchy's Fin.... (I was white knuckling the steering wheel) and for those that haven't run this trail, this pic definitely does NOT show the steepness.

Did some maintenance.
- Valve cover gasket
- Spark plug seals
- PCV valve and grommet
- Cap, rotor, spark plug and cables

Drove out to the farm to let the kids spend an Easter dinner playing with baby ponies, chicks, quail, ducks and rabbits. Fresh snow on top of springtime soft wet gravel roads made for a real pain in the ass to clean all the sand out. I don't know how you desert rats deal with sand on the regular.

Replaced the water pump, fuel filter and all 4 u-joints.

Have the crankshaft seal and oil pump cover seal to do next...maybe next month...

Front Passenger Window Blues :
Window didn't work, dove head first into the door to investigate and clean/grease everything there is, electrical contacts of window motor switches, gears, runs of glass from 20 years of grime, clean and grease glass channels, etc., etc........then got stuck big time trying to remove the outer weatherstrip without it breaking , removed all the small fragile plastic clips in the outer weatherstrip but there seems to be one hiding under the side mirror mount.

Tried to remove that small plastic triangle so I can remove mirror so I can remove the outer weatherstrip to wash & clean but got stuck ......can anyone come to the rescue ? Thanks.......

Yeah those triangles suck. I used my special plastic pry bars and extreme caution. It literally exploded on me, both of them

I setup a sprinkler under the truck. Just move if front to back after a few minutes.

I have two sprinklers. I cut two pieces of hose to about 16" and put a male end on one end and a 90 on the other. Slip on a 4' piece of hose to the other end of the 90. Then a "T" with a 2' piece of hose with a female end. Set it under the truck and turn it on. Leave for an hour. Hose off driveway.

I used to lay under my 92 and wash it 2-3 times per week in the winter. Now I'm older and smarter.

Is that grease or corrosion? Below the water line actually looks a LOT better than mine did when I cleaned the oil cooler. ~290k at that point.

Still haven't broken one on the three 80s that I've had to remove them from. The trick is getting a plastic trim knife very close to the mounting post and prying there. This flexes the plastic way less and transmits the force directly to the post. Once I have them apart I put a bit of effort into cleaning the tension clip and hole.. any particles stuck in there will make future removal more difficult.

In the summer i agree, i use that trick all the time. Unfortunately, when the hoses are still packed away for winter, everything is frozen, and there's 2 kids under the age of 4 in the truck late at night, i just wanted a quick spray down so i could put it back in the garage without the garage becoming a giant sloppy mess.

Well poop!

I go out this AM to change the gear oil and find the front pinion has a small leak. I'm working out whether to roll the dice on just replacing this $15 seal or go full monty in order to check the bearing and get a proper pre-load. I do need to do a front axle service and replace the front discs but want planning on it until later this summer.
