Yes there is a certain length that must be maintained. If the hose is too long the fluid in the shock will not make it to the reservoir to get the most cooling effect

Ok. This is whack!

No it's not the reservoir. jtwopark was asking about running a coilover AND a bypass shock. Basically two shock systems side-by-side. Lots of guys have run a single remote-res coilover, no problems there.

I don't understand any of this. But thanks for trying. haha

I've never seen a cantilever setup on an 80. Could be done if you have enough money/time/skill to DIY or lots of money to just have a shop do it.

As for the front, I don't see a coilover/bypass shock setup working on an 80 because of the driver's side. Our steering boxes mount outside the frame and gets in the way of everything. On Heep the steering box is inside the frame. Only option is to move the steering box forward several inches. The way I have my coilovers mounted is really the only option and that option doesn't leave room for a bypass shock. If you were to go back towards the firewall any further the tire will contact the spring at full turn/full stuff.

Is it possible to relocate the bumpstop to under the frame or inside the frame on the driver-front and make the shock tower wider to allow for a bypass shock to be used?

the king coilovers dont need an external bump stop because it has the King IBP..internal by pass....but definitely interested to see if jose took out the bumps, would there be room for the bypass shock?

Right now, going to the mechanic to fix this...

...but I can still manage to do 80-90 mph runs in death valley.
Please don't.

Please help keep the trails open for others to enjoy. Thank you.

How does speed have a negative affect on the trails? What am I missing? As long as individuals are staying on designated roads and trails and not creating new routes there is minimal impact. Of course if you leave all of your weeks worth of garbage out there or you're spinning tires unnecessarily and tearing things up, then you're just dumb and irresponsible. But simply driving at higher speeds in an of itself is not a problem unless there are posted speed limits which in this case there are not.

Driving at 90mph is dumb and irresponsible. Speed kills. The impact may not be to the trail itself, rather the impact on our image of responsible trail users.

This should be its own thread. But according to the NPS:
Rules and Regulations - Death Valley National Park (U.S. National Park Service)

But it's specific to park boundaries. WITHIN park boundaries there are no OHV allowed and speed limits are clearly stated either by sign or by policy. OUTSIDE on the DV boundary it's a different story.

I hear what you're saying but it's dumb and irresponsible if the vehicle isn't properly prepared for those speeds in that kind of terrain. Maybe not in DV specifically, but those same desert areas are regularly used for testing for pre-runners and other trucks intended for high speed travel. @jtwopark is clearly trying to have his truck set up to responsibly handle those kinds of speeds so I don't see it being irresponsible.

Fair points. The National Park makes for some unique circumstances that aren't necessarily applicable everywhere. Maybe it's a discussion to move to chit-chat? I just don't agree with a blanket statement that high speeds are dumb and irresponsible.

It's all about knowing the boundaries. There is a road that splits park boundary and BLM land that goes right thru Saline. But you kinda gotta know where the boundary is.

There use to be a really cool Barstow to Vegas off road race my uncle use to take me to in the 80s. That race was banned because it tore up so much untouched land. Now it's the race from Vegas to Reno and it's all in Nevada. Nevada doesn't have the same regulation not the same interest in protecting untouched land. I'm not saying that as a negative, just two different policies.

Speaking of Vegas to Reno...that race started this morning. Canguro Racing (of which I'm a part, but was unable to make it to this race) should be leaving the start line right about now in their 200 Series Cruiser.
You can track them live here!
RacingTraX | Live Race Tracking for Best in the Desert
They are truck # 8055, racing in Class 8000.

I don't either.

A national park, on public roads, just isn't the place. If you are caught the response will be, "we shouldn't let these people in here".

We're on the same page. I agree with you completely. I mistook your original comment to not be limited to NPs and public roads.

View attachment 1308491 Just picked this up from a local shop, 1310 cv rear shaft. Was getting funky noises and vibes so hopefully this takes care of it.

Wish I knew you needed a rear DC shaft. I have a brand new one from Tatton Driveline sitting in my garage I'm selling for $200 plus shipping. I ordered it out of ignorance and managed to get my OEM setup working with some pinion rotation thanks to adjustable LCAs.

Wow..I wouldn't speed if there were posted speed limits and or if I could see a vehicle in close proximity. On those days when my right foot is twitching for some fun, I make sure safety both personal and others are my top priority!

Thanks for your concern!

My LC was looking too pretty...all washed and freshly accessorized (new prinsu rack and front grill), so needed to do some exploring. Loaded up the boards for a morning surf then got out and about to take in some Oahu scenery.
