Nice! Did you get those re-plated locally or buy them like that?I am really bad at documenting work on my cruisers. Last weekend I had help from my favorite assistant and replaced the rear hatch hardware. View attachment 1488935View attachment 1488936View attachment 1488937View attachment 1488938
She is really good for 6 yrs old. She even figured out to use the universal extension for the hard to reach bolts.

July 5th is going to be two year anniversary of the day my 60 broke down 2000 miles from home in Saskatchewan Canada on a mayden voyage after doing a diesel conversion. This Friday night I finally got started tearing it apart by pulling the broken 12h-t. I spent a few hours bolting accessories onto the 12h-t I rebuilt to go back in it. I was really hoping to have it going by the 5th but I'm waiting on a couple of exhaust studs from Toyota and a batch of parts I need to replate before installing them on the engine. Hoping to have her going again next weekend.

Oh yeah, he is awesomeI had some trouble finding a place in the city, so I bought these from Maarten at Cruiser World. He has a lot of cool stuff, even some parts that are NLA in US.
i remember reading about your woes that trip. i had hoped you were close to where i lived so i could help you out but unfortunately you were too far away. glad you made it back including the truck. hope it's running again soon

Yes it is. Makes for a nice tight seal on both sides of the glass. Note: originally purchased in 2013.Is this the window felt on the inside panel? Glad to know you can still buy it from Toyota.
I think it is... advance auto. It's over due but truck has barely been run. Gonna switch is when I do the new used pan. What oil filter are you using? Purolator? Never saw a red one.
How much was the vacuum advance from Mr. Toyoda?
I only made it home with it thanks to Peter @Behemoth60 I'd love to do it again this fall maybe with the breakdown lol.
So your in Cali (speaking of Georg) Whoops, I see you wrote Gerod... I read wrong. Was gonna ask how the valves looked but I gather a different climate would affect the system different from on the East coast. Interesting that they went low. What does a drop indicate different from a rise in compression?
Man I so need that nearly silent idle (mines desmoged and no cat). Mine flutters bad on the vac gauge. And I picked up a used stock pump from a mud member parting out his engine, runs great. And the first thing I ever rebuilt (last May) was the gear box. No leaks.A drop in compression could be a leaking valve due to a bad seal or a number of other things. What ends up happening is you lose power because you are not burning all the fuel and then that fuel goes to the catalytic converter and gums it up over time. It causes more and more problems and not being able to pass smog is one of them.
So today it's up and running the engine seems to be running like a Swiss watch nice and smooth so smog check is next. On the test drive when I came to a stop sign the engine is running so smooth and quiet that I had to listen to hear it idle.
Oh and the adventure of putting in the new power steering pump yesterday, got it put in (which is so muchfun) hooked up the hoses, filled it up and no power steering. I was kinda pissed at that. Well went and sourced another one on a Sunday to swap out, when my buddy Doug (doing the majority of the work) said lets check the pressure control valve before we try and get the pump out. So when we drained the pump popped the high pressure hose off we noticed that the pressure control valve was missing (tested rebuild my ass). I got the pump as a remanufacturer via vatozone so they will be getting some choice words. Doug ended up having another pump so we used the pressure control valve from that one. Now I have smooth as butter power steering. So if you are planning on doing a saginaw conversion I recommend you check the pump for the pressure control valve, also if you still are smogged trim the upper mounting stud down or get a smaller plug. This way you won't rub the hose going from the vain-pump to the air filter.
