@OGBeno I think its time to get this housing modeled up in CAD and recreated. 3D medal printing or CNC.

Should still be available new from Toyota. Unfortunately customer was on a budget and we had to make conservative choices on what to use and what to replace.

I’m beholden to the person paying the bill.

Makes sense. Glad it’s still available new though.

I picked up something very special from another local Mud member today...

Of course, I picked the biggest snow day of the year.

Meanwhile, the other 80 is still sitting in the shop with the head off.

The local machine shop still has the head. On the bright side, I got my IP back from Dave at Back40. And a few boxes of new parts showed up from Japan and the UAE.

Staying busy... lots of excitement around here.

Who did your pump rebuild? Mine seems to be leaking somewhere.

The story is some Seafoam was used. I guess a lot of Seafoam was used through the intake.
Ouch! Expensive lesson...
I don't get the obsession with seafoam and most other snake oil products, they often cause far more harm than the minor benefits they might bring.

Wish I saw this tread earlier. Been working on a 1HDFT with ‘low miles’. It was not! If you want to know who sold it originally, pm. Rebuilt the injection pump and it was so warn it needed also a new housing. Took the head apart and it had two small cracks. I ordered a new 1HDFTE complete head set and modified it to fit the FT valve cover. Threaded a new M6 thread for the back left hole and blocked a few M6 holes. I also found a diesel head machine shop that has been in business for 50 years and do huge head repairs. Caterpillar etc. $1000 and the head is spec. Spare head in case MY head goes bad.
I 3D printed a cover instead of the PS pump so I can run the engine continuously on a stand. It’s currently in the troopy as of last week.

Whoah. Hard pill to swallow. Though I've (and others here who work on Toyota diesels) always said these Toyota diesels have lived hard lives and almost every single one of them needs some significant work. Good work, Ofer.

I love you man!!! 😀. Thanks!

Did the ACSD delete, glad I did it as the actual plate/ mounting surface itself was cracked and broke. Do late FTs not have an EGR? Mine crossover pipe is different than what I see online, an not quite like an FTE.

I don't know the specifics of each market but Japan had FTs with and without EGR (might depend on the region?), Europe had EGR, and Australia didn't as far as I know.

w/ EGR:
