Well that sucks if I need spacers. Not a fan of them personally. I am going to Discount tomorrow for tire shopping. Will report back.

I fitted those wheels on a HZJ73 hanging on the lift and they cleared without using any spacers.

With tires mounted?
No but the wheel cleared caliper and tie rod so it should be no problem , you might loose a bit of your turn radius but that shouldn’t be much .

285/75/16s rubbed in the inside of my rear wheelhousings with 3.5 backspace wheels. 4.5 would be even worse.

From 205R16 (stock tire on most 4 cylinder 70's in Europe) to 285's that is a decent step up so I wouldn't necessarily blame the wheel offset only for that ;-)

Fixed my ARB compressor and my rear locker works great. The front locker I can hear leaks from the solenoid and the front diff, but I'm not so sure the air from the front diff is because it doesn't have enough pressure.

All that to say I got stuck. In the field by my house. We have had rain for 3-4 days and I should have known better turning around in a ditch. Well went down and spun. Fine, turned on the locker, both spun. Locked in the hubs put in 4 and spun and dug down. Sunk down 6"+ on all 4 wheels, slimy sticky mud underneath that grass. Went and grabbed the tundra and had to dig a trench on all wheels to get out.

I think I've decided to go more M/T than A/T. Those BFG's were instantly slicks. All 4 wheels were smooth. Our dirt roads can get nasty out here, so Toyo or Yokohama G003 MT's seem to be it.

I’m ordering the Yokohama’s this summer.

I am about to find out but these are 17" steelies, not 16". I was told they would fit without any issues, but when I measured the BS today...they appear to be 4.5" using my ruler. If you want this style in 16" without spacers then you are SOL it seems.

You should try asking @Honger because he has the same wheels on his troopy without any mention of spacers being used. See post #60 of this thread: Builds - 1991 FJ75 moving to America

Are your wheels the 17x6.5" ones? They do look exactly the same as mine.
Mine fit just fine with 255/75/17... no spacers.

Yes sir. I am getting tires mounted on them around 2pm today. Close to the same size as yours: 255/70/17.

Thought I’d try to be productive today and sort out a vacuum leak since I had the time today. Nope, not productive; rather destructive. Broke my VSV. 😢

Let me know if you a 24v one that just so happens to be looking for a new home. For the mean time I’ll see how epoxy holds this together.
