Not much shop time today, but I got the new pressure plate and clutch disk in installed this afternoon. I also cleaned the bellhousing and a few other parts so re-assembly can continue tomorrow.

From where did your clutch alignment tool come?

I'm a new one to the forum, and I've been doing a conversion for a few months now. It's been a bit of a process as I am putting the running gear from my old HZJ75 into a newer HZJ79. The HZJ79 was a cab and chassis when I bought it, and not much else, hoping to use what I an from my old girl and buying what I need in the process. Its definitely been a deeper hole the further I dig into this thing, but slowly working my way through it. I have already installed 75 series diff with a disk brake conversion on the rear with my original Diff centre.

It was then I needed to buy a new rear suspension set up, as the rear springs are longer, etc. I have bought a new fuel tank, as the 2 models are slightly different (only noticed once I installed the old one). The 79 was a factory 1HZ according to the VIN plates, so I was pretty good there. Yesterday I installed the motor and gearbox (after installing new clutch, and new head gasket as well), only to find the gearboxes are different. After reading on this forum, I found that I can get away with using the H55F gearbox with some minor modifications..

Today however, only made some slight motions forward such as installing the steering column, connecting some hoses, and little odd jobs here and there.

Hope to gain much advice from this forum, and I'll keep updating whenever possible

Decided a backup camera would be a nice addition to the truck now with the canopy on it.....and a slightly updated headunit to go along with it.

It took 2 FULL DAYS to get this done...total pain in the ass(full disclosure....I am NOT a stereo guy...could care less about them). Went with a Sony XAV-AX200 headunit and a backup camera from Amazon. When I built the dash, I built it all on the bench....installed it as a fully built assembly.....well.....when you do that, swapping out a radio becomes a challenge. I never realized that there were double DIN adapters for the radio.....so I made some back when I built the truck. Dumb. Well the ones I made didn't fit the new stereo of course so I had to mod all of it and then figure out how to get it all back together with the dash in the car.

I should have just left it alone but.........I'm not good at that. It's actually really cool to have a backup camera.....lost a lot of rear visibility with that canopy.

Had the glove box out to run speaker wire over to the passenger side so I can wire up my doors when the speaker pods come in.....found this on the blower motor screen. Looked like I was drying clothes in it for the last 4 years! I thought I was going crazy thinking that my airflow from the blower was lower than I remember. Glad to know I'm not fully losing my mind.

The mud guards on my PZJ70 had faded lettering so I pulled them off yesterday, cleaned them up the best I could and hand painted the raised lettering. I was inspired to do this by local cruiserhead @CaptClose who did the same on his FJ60.

Also, I noticed that these guards are made by Toyoda Gosei in Japan.

No. Going from the floor up. To fill in between the FRP and the floor.

Damn...and I thought I was getting better at this car jargon stuff.

I welded a 1/8" thick x 41/2" high rail across the cargo floor years ago before the ute liner was applied to create a wall so water wouldn't get into cab from cargo floor. Then fitted a ply panel from top of it to the underside of new aluminium tray top to keep dust out and to keep cold air in cab. It was sealed with bitumin paint and marine carpet.
I am having aluminium back wall which will go from underside of roof to top of tray. It will be pressed up early next year. They are also fitting a sliding window into it, then I'll fit it to the car.

Could I do this if I had a prop rod? Probably not. :)

Hood strut kits are ready ship. Thanks to those that have paid....these will go out Monday most likely. Still have a few of this first batch ready to go for anyone interested.

I initially thought you had bought a lot of pizza for the shop until I looked closer. :)

Hello,

After 23 years, Chance's accelerator cable gave up the ghost. Time for replacement.

Part number is 78180-60270.

Out with the old.

In with the new. This part is a bit difficult to attach to the pedal.

The new cable in the engine bay.

Hello,

The carburetor end.

FZJ73 12.16.18 3.JPG

This one was rather easy to attach.

Then it was time to adjust the idle speed. The day the cable failed, idling was rough. At noon in traffic, while returning home for lunch: I had to floor the pedal to keep the truck going. Thankfully, Chance limped home; once there, the engine died.

I adjusted the speed following the engine manual's procedure. It took a while but I could set it at 900 rpm; now, as per @dieseldog 's motto, she idles just fine. Idling speed adjustment is 50% technique and 50% art: I may have got the technique part right, but on the art part I still have much to learn.

In the meantime, I received something from Onur / @beno . Thank you so much Onur.

The PO lost these little pieces sometime in the past. This is how they look.

I forgot if I posted this somewhere, anybody heard of this hub brand before? They're some annoying things about them lol......

Like the OD is just a tad larger than the toyota hub and wheel fitment is a pain. and one has a cracked body.
