Did I date code that properly? If so that would be great addition to my 1976 FJ45

12th working day of December. If it has a metal plug socket it is 1977. If plastic it is 1987 or someone replaced the plug on a 1977 unit. Either way it’s a screaming deal and is perfect for the front of your 45 (pics of said 45?).

I haven’t see one go for that cheap since I bought mine in 2007.

Don’t wanna take away from this thread but should have some better pictures of it soon. It just got loaded to transport last night.

Winch was bought.

Need remote and new cover. Time to find parts for a rebuild and a good thread documenting a cosmetic refresh.

@flintknapper thread is the best.

Remotes are not too expensive, and are often found on used sites.

Even if the motor doesn’t work you’re still money ahead. On my local FB marketplace there is an 8274 for $1200 and another for $1350.

Nice score.

@1911 works out to about $310 usd. Thorough cleaning, new remote and solenoid cover. Possibly switch to black synthetic line and source a new fair lead for the FJ45 bumper I’m ordering.

Here’s is my winch that I bought a few years ago on Craigslist. My sticker is removed with no numbers are letters what so ever. I’m not sure if it was shaved off some or what. It seems like based on photos that the stamp codes are engraved fairly deep. Hope someone can explain it.

Not sure what motor. It didn’t have a sticker on it. Plug is metal 4 pin I believe. Is there a way to tell on the motor? I’ll be home in a few minutes and check

Ground-off numbers on anything screams "stolen" to me, but who knows?

Your controller socket is the older (pre-1980) metal one. That's about all that can be told from your photos.

If you think that is obscene...

OK, help me out with what I’ve got. Guessing an 8074 but what say you. I’m on crutches currently so these are the best pics I can muster until I can dig it out of the garage corner it’s in. Someone rattle canned the whole thing in black. I’d like to restore this summer.
