I hope to never own anything with a carb ever again.....

Hello,

Wise words.

Carbs are simpler and purely mechanic. However, getting them to have the right mixture is too complicated in my book. Ask me how I know.

Fuel injection involves an ECU and associated electronics, which is pure witchcraft to many, but in the long run it is simpler to operate and maintain, provided your electric system is properly set up and there is no EMP exposure. There are ways to deal with EMP, but that is another story...

Was able to get the rear tail lights put in, not wired up yet

Rabbit hole.... been playing with the idea of switching to 6l80 instead of 4l80. same size in length, but 6 speed.

Been looking for someone that can tell me if this is a good idea or not. Also need to call PSI Conversions to see if their wiring / computer can work for my engine/tranny combination.

It’s an excellent idea. The 6L80 is a superior trans and has a nice low 1st gear.

Cheers

Simplicity has value. Anyone who is confident comfortable, and unconcerned with putting together/transplanting a EFI system with ECU etc. Should do so.........If it isn't easy and comfortable for you to do then old manual/mechanical/ fuel and fire physics is easier to understand and execute. There's also a few of us who value our 70 series as being the ultimate doomsday vehicle to run and be simply repairable when everything else is failing. ECM's electronics etc.. negate this....Different ways of looking at things. I envy people who see and understand all the electronics.

Years and years ago I used to struggle with them. Not so much now, they are simple actually and fairly idiot proof.

GM sensors are cheap, monitoring the engine with a ScanGauge is easy and affordable. Aftermarket support is nearly limitless.

Cheers

@cruisermatt .. you said... I would highly advise against a 6l80 without the matching engine, PCM, TCU all out of the same vehicle.

well, I sent some emails to clist adds last week and one came through. wrecked 2011 truck 2500 chevy 6.0 with 6l80. 65k miles $3000, for engine/transmission,transfer and wiring harness/ecu, etc.

going to go look at it... just when I thought I was going one direction, too....

That’s a pretty sweet deal, don’t share the listing. You’ll have most of what you need with that.
2011 6.0 is a LY6 which is pretty much a factory race motor

That’s what you want! Donor vehicle is best by far. Take what you want, scrap and sell the rest.

Seat mounts finished. Driver seat goes 2 1/2 inches futher back than passenger. More room for pedals and passenger slides forward then more to allow clearance to lean in to get stuff. Tuffy box up next. Thanking I can just lean the emergency brake over to the left to make more room, anyone else find a slick way to deal with this? I think I recall someone cutting the corner out of a tuffy box before.

Getting ready to put sound deadening in the cab, any issue with leaving the original OEM stuff?

If there’s no reason to think you have untreated rust under the OEM material I can’t think of a reason to remove it...

Well, may have found a reason, as I was vacuuming the area to get it cleaned up several chunks of the old stuff popped up and fell off so I don’t think it’s very flexible resilient anymore.

Now it’s time for name that item, first up .... Anyone know what this is for? found it underneath the jack holder in the rear of the car?
