I'm sure you know @NLXTACY , but I'll point out that while it may be inert, Halon works by displacing oxygen....so you don't want to be in a closed compartment (like a closed car interior) with it where it can build to concentration and you can't get the oxygen anymore

But its a deep sleep :flipoff2:

Just ordered one and picking it up tomorrow morning. This seems to be the lowest profile one I can find. I personally like the pin pull vs any other releasing mechanism.

some of the club race cars I have driven have a halon system like that with a dash button. They suggest you hold your breath and warn that it should only be used in dire emergencies because you will pass out from lack of oxygen.

You feel less of the burning of flesh when you are passed out :meh:

IAPA and NFPA state the following about Halon in enclosed spaces.

"Dangerous gases are formed when halon is used to put out fires. Wear proper respiratory equipment, particularly in enclosed spaces. After use, do not allow anyone to enter the area until it has been well ventilated."

It may not displace the o2 but its by no means "safe" to breath.

Good point. I am by no means an expert on the subject just trying to help contribute to the education on the different agents available. I'm sure it's not good to inhale bromochlorodifluoromethane but it seems to have a lower toxicity then the other alternatives. There is a lot of info out there on this subject. I think having any means to fight a fire regardless of the agent being used is better then having nothing at all. I would personally rather choke a bit then burn to death.

So I got in the SafeCraft Aviation Halon 1211 extinguisher yesterday and its a serious piece of art. The entire piece is CNC machined, clear anodized and the bottle is aluminum and powder coated wrinkle black. As it so happens, the same wrinkle black I will be using on my stuff ;)

I think I'd rather stomp out a fire using my flip-flops than using this F.E. and possibly causing it damage. Man its purty!!

Just picked up the h3R mount. It's not as flush as the steel one. This one sits forward about an inch. I think its a good compromise for having a quick release without having to go too far into the footwell.

Got the mount on and it looks good. Pin needs to be lightly greased because it seems to stick in the nylon because of the tight tolerance. The mount is 2.5" thick whereas my bracket is 1.75". I can accommodate it. Still thinner than the 3.5" on the Safecraft. I will modify and update.

Is it possible to make the mount a lockable box? I like that it is in an "out of sight out of mind" location. It would be a great place to put personal items. Or, maybe the box idea is more suited for another Wits' End product.

I just picked up one of the Drake brackets today. It's not quite as low-profile and I am planning to mount it in front of the seat but I need to take a closer look tonight to check fitment. Might need to find a different location for it.

Yeah the Drake mount is a solid 1.5" extra that the FE gets pushed out. The H3R mount, which includes the clamps, is only 1" and its the same price.

Sorry, I'm not far enough along to announce that one ;)

Fair enough. But, I for one, would be really interested in a lockable box down there with some accessory attachments on the outside (flashlight, pocket knife, or whatever).

What happened to not teasing us with vaporware???? Winky faces should accompany real products only ;)

They could study your marketing techniques for years.

Insert shut up and take my money meme here.

I will definitely be getting a passenger side mount.
