Ok I am making a motion that we change the monthly meeting to Steve and Ali's new house...that's badass Steve, when can we expect the boulders to start showing up in the back yard

The wife has already approved a shin-dig, BBQ cooking skills and availability have been discussed with Troll, and I need to discuss it with the UC BOD but it'll happen. Just need to get moved in and settled. There will be plenty of room for people to crash inside or camp down by the creek.

Can I come stay in the barn when my wife kicks me out of the house?

Sure - but it is not insulated yet. That is on the short list along with a window AC unit. It's a sauna in there.

Anyone have any suggestions on AC? I have seen some window units for $300-400 that should work. They might not take the temp down to 60 but it wouldn't be > 100.

Same Q on insulation. 2 car garage with a high roof and a work area on the second floor. Wall studs 16" on center and roof 24" on center. I was thinking some regular ole roll and staple in insulation and then cover the wall insulation with cheap wood paneling to protect it from tears. Cheap is good. Something I can install is even better.

Steve look up 31-w insulation in Greenville, off Pelham rd, I used to work for them. Have them come give you and estimate and it should be cheaper than doing it yourself buying it from lowes....as far as a/c if you are going to use the garage a lot then I would look at one of those Mitusbishi units. They are set up for smaller places like garages and are more efficient than a window unit

Oh yeah, They actually did that dentist building on 123 in Seneca recently...one time I went all the way to the state line to quote a job

I second Chuck's suggestion of the Mitsu mini-splits (if that's what he meant). No duct work required and WAY more efficient and effective than a window unit. I just had a garage and large office above built and have so far been thrilled with the mini-splits. Efficient, quiet, space saving, powerful, cost effective, etc.

My Google-Fu brought up some prices in the thousands for those units. That's way more than I want to spend.

but it would pay for itself in the long run!

Yeah I'm not sure how much they run, there is a heating/AC company called PECO in central here, I have used them to fix my heating and they were by far the cheapest on labor and parts and do a very good job, might call them and see what they quote you...they may have a better cost vs the Internet...and like Andy said you can always put it in later if you use the garage more often
