Hoping to get with Ryan and rebuild my rear axle on the 80 if anyone is bored. Might also install the snorkel and winch as time allows. I'd like to get some of that knocked out before STR if possible.

Got some wrenching done after the meet and greet. Not on the cruiser sadly.... everything for it is sidelined as the house and other projects are coming first due to changes coming up. But I did have to squeeze in some time for oil change on the tdi and some starter love. The TDI starters aren't the great and loose their grease around the gears on the inside and make horrible squeeling sounds when started after siting for a while. If not taken care of they will lock up and fail.

So pulled it out and used some royal purple grease to take care of it.

No more sluggish start or raptor death cry on start up anymore.

You have a 93. I thought all FZJs came with FF rear axles.

In any case, sounds like you need to schedule a HAMOM!! I'm game!

Guess the 45 got jealous of all the 80 love. Back on exhaust duty

It did involve a type of wrench, so I guess it counts... Changed every head on an 8-pc drum kit. Not bad for 1.0 hours. Gonna be lots of this in April. Thank god for the drum key drill bit.

I took this out of storage last week so I could get to the mower. Took it for a ride around the block.

I have been looking for a side cover for about 7 years now. It's almost impossible to find these. Plenty of left sides out there. I guess people over the years crush these when trying to kick start it. I finally found one about a month ago, put it on the back burner with the 40 in pieces. Just test fitting here. I will take the left side to my paint guy and let him match it. This is not the original paint, so I'm not messing up an original. I still have to find an emblem for it as well. No hurry just when I get to it, couple years maybe. :)

Thanks for the photos @lowtops they bring back fond memories. I had a CB360 back in the day. You simply could not kill those bikes, I loved that bike

Me as well. Okay, so my first bike was a 90 cc Harley Davidson but my first adult bike was a CB350. Enjoyed it.

Well its time to upgrade the cassette deck. Im doing a whole system swap, and sound deadening. Its also time to change the shocks and replace the PS reservoir. Thanks Beno!!!

Anyone who has ever had a sterndrive boat for any length of time knows the "Birfield" of boats ... replacing gimbal bearing, along with bellows, water pump, and trim senders.

20150406_085355.jpg

Step one .... pull lower unit.

20150406_111357.jpg

Step two ... separate lower unit to access water pump. Replace impeller and backing plate.

Cleaned up with new impeller installed.

Next, on to the gimbal bearing.

For the gimbal bearing .... pull out shifter cable, remove outdrive bell housing, old bellows, and old trim senders. Then slide hammer the old bearing out and drive the new one in.

While in there it's a good idea to remove the old exhaust flapper stuck in the exhaust because the previous owner let it overheat which caused the flapper to fail and fall down the exhaust tube. Fortunately it was lodged in such a way there was no real obstruction.

Cleaned up with new gimbal bearing installed. Sent a picture to the wife reporting my progress to which she replied it looked a little "suggestive".

So then I sent her this one of the bearing alignment tool. :D

Install new water hose. Then time for new U-joint, exhaust, and shifter bellows. These are the guys that will sink a boat if they crack or rip or, at the very least cause the gimbal bearing to fail.

After making use of bellows lock ring insertion SST then it is time to bolt lower unit back up and make it look like it all happened in a cool 2 hour job done over a couple beers. Total time?? More than I wish to confess.
