so do you bury the post in the ground or mount it to a plate or something?

Plate gets mounted to a workbench and the post sits on the hard floor of the shop. IIRC, that post is bent and should be straightened before hard use.

Absolutely right Johnny. Mounts to a bench then the leg goes to the ground but the leg should be on a block of wood instead of concrete in order to absorb some of the shock instead of sending it right back up through the vice. Supposedly these things have unreal clamping force and will take a beating that would eventually destroy a normal bench top vise.

that reminds me, i gotta go to the office and grab a box of 4ft led tubes that were left in a spot not authorized for them to be stored at...

So it was a rainy day today and I decided to clean up the old post vice. Not a big project but a fun one. I didn’t want to clean it down to like new metal and paint it, just full disassemble, a quick going over with a wire wheel and a light coat of oil. Can’t wait to put it in the garage if we ever finish with this gous build LOL

Of course they sell these .... but why buy what you can make.

For years I've hated having to use an old fashioned pump to inflate presta valves on my mtn bike. Problem solved.

All my wrenching has been done with hand tools till this point. With the pig coming I am in desperate need of an angle grinder. Ive been looking at a corded Milwaukee, but I am curious on the cordless vs corded debate for specific tools. I get the general advantages and disadvantages, but are there certain tools you prefer to be corded over cordless, especially ones you need to be portable?
