X2. I have a cordless grinder (dewalt 18v) but it gets very little to no use. Dragging an extension cord around is not a big deal considering how much more power a corded grinder has. For grinders, I'm a big fan of the Dewalt grinders, this one in particular. I've got two of this one, would love a third to replace a lower amperage, older dewalt that's currently my third:

Any particular reason you favor the Dewalt, or just had good luck with them over the years?

Just good luck with them. There was a deal earlier this year where I could get that grinder and a ton of consumables ($200 worth) for $150 or so, so I got one and a second grinder because I liked it so much. Like Eric said, the locking button on the dewalt grinder is like a drill direction switch kinda. Very easy to lock in place.

IMHO, the big companies are all really good. Metabo is on the high end and would be the next brand to try out if I win the lotto.

Also, don't buy your consumables in a brick and mortar store. I've found much better deals online. Trying Walter cutoff discs now and they're working really well for me:

I've got 2 hitachi's that I did a price/ amp comparison with all the others. For the price (about $43) at big box, they have been great...and I have used them a lot.

X2!!! I've had a few things impact the face shield over the years. A couple were weird, like slow motion. Startles the crap out of you and makes you damn glad you were wearing a face shield. When you look for a face shield make sure they sell replacement clear shields, knob adjustable head band is also a good thing.
