Might be getting that motor swap yet! Waterpump belt broke on me. Got off the road as soon as i smelt coolant and noticed the gauge was pegged hot. Look closely at the pic and you can see water bubbling out from under a headbolt.

Ok i am going to try to start tearing into the motor soon. Here are my thoughts. If bottom end is ok and head is not cracked do i:
A) just fix the head and go. Would want the chevy internals.
B) fix plus go to fuel injection setup via trollhole or affordable fuel injection kit.
C) small block 350 swap.

Will be late this year before i can do it. Promised the wife we would hit a certain financial goal 1st. Spend up to 2k max. Yes i know that's not alot. I am literally interviewing for a second job part Time to speed things up and pay some bills. Thoughts????:confused:

I would stick with 2F before I went carbed SBC but that is me. Now LSx swap is another story you get power and mpg. I still dream of an 5.3 swap into something old. ;)

Agreed. The amount of work and expense to swap in a carbed SBC is just not worth it IMHO. Granted an LSX platform will cost you more but the net HP and TQ gains are well worth it. If your budget is $2k though you are pretty much stuck with the 2F
 
Sounds like 2f time but See if jimbo sold the whole lot when he sold his 40. If not that TBI unit I sold him really just needed some seals and gaskets. Ran fine but leaked oil. Better than burning it. Also he had the trans and tcase together with adapter and I have an extra tail support you could have on the cheap. Might be a way into FI and sbc

Man its still leaking antifreeze. Does have oil though. Taking that as a good sign. Not sure where the leak is coming from though.

Put the new belt on and started it up. Apparently the motor is ok. The head probably still needs to be looked at but I was able to drive it around the block without it overheating. I cant seem to get the water pump belt tight though. Even with the adjustment all the way in it has too much deflection. Belt came from ralph hayes so it should be good.
 
Leaking at that t connector and hose at back of motor toward firewall.

Repaired the hose and drove it around the block. Never overheated even after 10 minutes is idling. Seems i dodged a bullet.:p
