Going with another starter would be my next bet too.

Even if it isn't the issue you should be able to return it if the problem isn't fixed.

I agree with you, it looks like all your bases are checked and it points to the starter. Usually if you can free spin a plug like that and it is messing up something is probably FUBAR internally.

On the bright side it will be in the 50's this weekend.

Well thought i had it figured out and click! Must be that wire.

New speedo gear,thermostat,and gaskets.

Ordered another starter today. Should be in aafter lunch but i have to work. Hoping i can get it in the morning but will be surprised if i can. It will start sometimes first try and sometimes i got to keep trying before it will finally turn over.

And the bastid has me stranded at work. Mofo from hell!

New starter and new plugs still will not start. Fought with it over an hr in the snow.

Stills no start. So back three cylinders were wet. Front three dry. Josh seems to think air leak causing it. Seems to me like it is not getting. Gas. So could float be stuck? Distributor cap be bad? If i can't figure this out will have to towe it to Marshall:(!

Vapors lock. Found one twisted up plug wire but when i removed the gas cap it would run. I got to get a new oem gas cap. Any ideas why this happened? Lol i put it back on to go home got about a mile from the plant and it backfired about six times and shut off. I took the cap back off and it started right up. Twice it acted like it was gonna die though after that.

there was...it was for the tank vents...sounds like yours are plugged or clogged

Already been done via Ralph Hayes.

Well....try a new gas cap....

I am. Also going to blow some air into the lines from the charcoal canister.

Tried to start it up today and all it did is backfire at the carb. I did swap the hoses at the cannister but no change. Have not had time to bring the air compressor out. Will be tomorrow. I guess inspection of carb internally is next.

Set the carb on fire! Ordered a new dizzy cap and rotor. Blew out the vapor lines.

Replaced the rotor and cap and it started right up. The contacts inside the cap were pretty scarred up. I guess it was not sparking regularly even though we did check for spark at each plug. Ordered a new fan belt today from rockauto as well.

Yes you did....

New fan belt came in today from rockauto. Hoping to make the squeal go away.

Fanbelt was wrong size.:( napa had one on hand though. 64 3/8" long. The one i took off was 64.5"!!!
