and on top of all that: I have no space for a floor-mounted parking brake lever (which is what the later model 40s with the rear axle parking brakes have), I want to keep the early 40 dash-mounted parking brake pull

I think this is sort of on topic.

I think it would be pretty simple to make a custom length cable and housing that would make a rear axle parking brake work. The driveshaft brake is a total no-go huh?

that's the plan

no provision for it if I stay with Toyota parts; the H55 didn't come with it - could go to a TSM disk brake kit, but there maybe fitment issues, and the question of whether those "golf cart" brakes will actually do enough to hold the truck

All the people looking for Claudia's H55 install thread are going to have a hard time finding the info because it is in the "Tranny to T-Case Bypass Hose" thread.....

Maybe we should start "DsrtRydr H55 Install Thread" for those people who are interested in Shipmag's results!

:D

Finally git the hose back the center ofbanjo to center of banjo was 12.75 inches i think it would be better at 12 or 12.25. I will most likely make the second one for my other FJ40 12.25. Here is a pick of the hose mounted. I am waiting to make the second one to find out if there is any interference on my other cruiser. It will be a couple weeks before i can get it installed on the other FJ40. When i took the plug out of the transmission i got three aerosol caps full of oil and couldnt feel any in the transfer case. So i do have a seal problem and will replace the seal
Before installing the transmission in crinkle probably next year before i get to that point. The first two hoses are costing me $60 if more want them they will drop the price but one person has to buy them and distribute them if so the lrice can drop to 35 or 45 dollars depending on how many are bought. I would be willing to buy them for the group at cost and distribute them. It would cost you the hose plus the cost of the ride from me o you. The cost of shipping to me would be split to however many are bought. I am willing to do this for other mudders. These hose are rubber hoses capable of handling oil up to 250 degrees. There is a teflon sleeve around the hose then the stainless steel braid. The teflon sleeve is to protect it from the heat of the tail pipe. Let me know if you are interested then based on the interest ill get a quote on getting them fabbed.

I installed the hose on my 74 and work work out perfect. I like the length because moving it around to get the thread started on the last banjo is easier shorter would make it harder. Her are some pics. There was no interference with the rail pipe. The transmission had about 8 ounces in it from the transfer case that i had to drain.

Nice solution. Next time I mess with my muffler pipe, I will make sure it is further out from the tranny / TC.

What ever the small usps small box flat rate is from the post office. Im not making any thing off this just doing it for mudders we have 6 so far I hoping for ten to get them cheaper. First one cost me 60 im trying to get them for 45 is my goal.
