Random thought: would you ever consider making a bolt in platform for a blue sea fuse box/ aux fuse panel in the engine compartment?

Always looking for a clean solution that I can bolt on my sidewall, yet nobody seems to make them. Lots of options for Tacoma’s but none for land cruisers

It would be one of those "as I have time projects" not much of that anymore.... But sketch me something and which BlueSea you have and email it to me.

@reevesci

I just purchased the Gen2 9.5 rs --- and of course, after the fact, wondered if the 9.5K lb winch is sufficient for a fully-loaded 60... ? Would the 12.5 be 'better' .

I have no experience with winches and have never had to use one.... So be gentle with a 'Winch Virgin'...

A, I and most others recommend a 1.5 : 1 weight ratio or as close as you can get. 5-10% either way is a toss up. Most stay with the lower rated instead of going up. Marley was 6300# and I ran a 9.5 on him.. no problems even sucking him out of wet East Texas red clay when buried to the axles.

The 9.5 SG2 is a workhorse.

Good to know. Thank you.

And FWIW -- To ANYONE considering one of these winches --- Trail Tailor has the best price on the planet, at the moment.

I’ve ordered and installed the steering linkage skid plate and tough dog HD steering damper?
Both high quality.

All,

Due to the Carr-Fire here in Redding we are a little slow to answer emails and PM's. Right now we are ok, but the smoke is starting to settle in our area and making air thin and harder to breath.

There are a few MUD guys here in the area that have been evacuated and have left or staying with friends or family. I haven't been able to raise a couple of guys. One which is @reddingcruiser (Dick T.) he is in north Redding and that was one of the evacuated and also most affected areas. Dick, if you read/see this let me know. Hope you and K are ok.

@Kmonty66 started a thread in the vendor forum that he and I have been updating.

TT Evac in Redding from the fires!

Once again thanks for all the support and your thoughts.

Jason and Andrea

Anyone know if they’re okay? I saw an awful photo on Facebook last night of a burnt up house or garage foundation or maybe it was a road (very hard to tell) w/ a 60 and a 40 literally w/ tires turned to dust from Redding.

We're still good and hanging in with the smoke. Just loaded up a RTT on @Wompom at the shop. I got power back yesterday, but its been on and off all day today. I'm headed back to the house to load up more coolers of water and drinks for the CHP, Sheriff's Dept, Nat'l Guard, etc.. Andrea ran all over town today with coolers of drinks and snacks for the guys.

I have a couple of good friends that are CHP'ers and one commented that the "night volunteers" hadn't come by the last two evenings/nights in some areas. One guy hadn't been relieved or given water or food in over 7 hours. So we'll be out tonight for a bit handing out waters and snacks for these guys.

Andrea ordered 200 teddy bears from Amazon and 6 pallets of dog food from the local feed store today to give out at the evac centers and animal shelters.

Please keep thinking about these guys.

Glad you guys are okay. That photo on Facebook last night was super intense.

Glad you are all right J. Can't imagine what it is like for you guys. In Carson City we have all the smoke coming in from all over. You can actually start seeing the smoke about 4 houses down and visibility is probably limited to under a mile. Crazy how much is going on.

Thanks for taking the time today to help me oro!

Lost about half my mpg with that tent up there.

Stay safe and let me know if we can help in any way. The people of redding are lucky to have you and your wife there helping out.

We're still good. I went to the shop for a bit today to try and get a handle on the schedule and see where to start back up. It's hard to start up again thinking it can still be taken away.

I had to turn the swamp cooler off to keep the smoke from coming in. I have another shop fan but it wouldn't keep up and quickly got 95F.

They started removing barricades in some areas today. The evac boundary by the shop and house were removed this morning. So hopefully I'll be back to business as usual in a few more days. Just need to combat the smoke and all should be good where we are now.

Fed Ex and UPS are running in my area again so orders will start going out again tomorrow.

Thanks again all,

Jason and Andrea
