TIRES - On Stock 16" Wheels - M416, M100, M101-CDN (1 Viewer)

255/85 R16 KM2s on 80 series alloy rims. I had the wider fenders made, they bolt on like the original fenders did. The suspension is at stock height on our M101 CDN. While designed to run Iltis-sized tires, the axle on the M101 CDN is setup to run 33s once you get the fenders adjusted to clear them.

Nice 1/4 ton.

Your pics and avatar with the lifted 40 series reminded me of another reason to consider a SOA even if the tires in and of themselves aren't reason to need to do so. Doing a SOA can often enough provide a better match with the tow vehicle's hitch height.

"Spring Over Axle" is the easiest way to gain 4" or so in height. You may even be able to reuse most components, although you may need to swap side to side or something similar to take advanatge

Anyone running 225-90-R16? They are just under 32 x 9. Maybe just a radial version of the 7.50-16?

LT235/85r16 falken wildpeak at3w tires on stock wheels and suspension. Have about 6k miles and two CO trips with them.

Decision has been made and wheels dropped off. 235 85 R16 Uniroyal Laredo HD/T is the winner. Specs say they measure 31.6” tall and 9.4” wide when mounted on 6.5” wide wheels. It will be interesting to see how they measure out on the M416 4.5” wheel.

Big thanks to Chris at 49 Tire Pros (& Cruisers). Pics on wheel to follow in a few days. Trailer is still under construction. I drove poor Chris @wct49 nuts looking for an old school look with smooth sidewall and chunky tread in a radial. Every tire I liked was discontinued. Chris found and recommended the Uniroyals.

Thats a great looking tire for a trailer.

I have that exact size on my M101Cnd. It's big tire but fit without mods. Only if I put gravel it or something really heavy that I might get rub on the fender.

I didn’t realize that Uniroyal is made by Michelin. These Laredo HD/Ts are a heavy duty commercial tire. I will never wear them out!

If you ever want another 750-16 radial BFG makes in a KM3

They are about 31.5x8 on a 16-5 Cruiser wheel

Rear tires on trailer are 700-15 bias by comparison

I ditched the period perfect NDT's that I bought from Miller Tire in Ohio after one disintegrated on I-20. As cool as they looked, I guess they weren't designed for actual highway mph's.

I ended up getting these. They are LT tires load rated E, but have worked well for me. I haven't dragged it across too many offroad trails, but it gets my gear across state lines smoothly. I'm still running the tubes on these radials.

well seems like those uniroyals mentioned above are discontinued which it too bad. these wheels
are tough to find a proper tire for!! i want a chunky tire because it just looks right on these trailers. i can get a cooper discover stt pro in a 235/85r16 but they’re $350 a piece!!! that’s almost as much as i paid for the whole trailer!! i need the trailer later this month for a road trip so don’t have a ton of time to shop unfortunately. any other ideas you guys have for a tire that looks right that might actually be available

The cheapest route is to get "Jeep" wheels 15X8 and the tire selection is large. Pictured are 32-11.50 X15

while i get that this route is done often i would rather go to a 6 lug hub to match the landcruiser and then have matching wheels but thats going to cost way more than a set of rubber for now. i also want to take time to research backpacking etc as i dont want to have to widen my fenders if i can avoid it. so the simplest quickest way is to get new rubber for the wheels i already have. its more of a time crunch thing right now but getting a new set of tires will give me more time to actually decide what i want to do and if i want to go the route of new hubs and wheels or just run what i’ve got. i use it lot so new tires won’t go to waste. just trying to get a feel of what others have used as there are a lot of good ideas on this forum that can make searching for a solution simpler

There is no reason to have matching spares. Just carry appropriate spares, you still still need to carry two anyway.
16" LT tires are for one ton vehicles and will not air down enough to provide floatation.

i’m not saying i want matching wheels. i’m just saying if i change hubs i might as well go to a 6 lug and the tires for a 15 inch wheel are the same and i might as well have the same bolt pattern wheels lying around. id like to keep the wheels that are on the trailer. i’ll likely go with a 235/85r16 tire on them though. just not sure how much i want to spend
