Got a little whine today because it was in the 20s. When I got home I checked the fluid to see if it was frothy level and whatever air bubble was in there blew out and it was just low on fluid with no air bubbles at all.

I guess 100 series racks are hard to bleed. Anyone else had that issue?

ATF right?x
The 100ert calls for PS

hmm... US spec, at least, calls for Dexron type ATF

My guy at Swepco I've been friends with for years says use his PS fluid. He says it's a cost saving thing and 3rd world thing that toyota uses ATF in the PS.

I've been following his lead now for 7-8 years with using his stuff.

Having recently replaced PS pump on my LX and previously flushed PS on a couple of other occasions, I never had issues blading air from the system. I do use Toyota ATF tho.

I work on old junk. This is my first rack bleed. I'm sure I did something wrong to get it out of sorts. Working great now though.

I've been out a week in Death Valley so I dropped my 100 with my buddy who I trade out with with. He gets the new s*** and he sends me his old s***.

@OGBeno helped me confirm the rack available in the US for the 2UZ truck is the same as the 1FZ truck.

Good thing because Partsouq wanted $1200 for the GCC part number and this one local was only $625

Austin did say that he has to reuse my old upper tie rods because the ones that came with the new rack did not have enough range of motion to work. Luckily they were new from when Meshal had my front end serviced in Saudi.

He said this rack took him 1/2 the time the 2UZ would have because the motor (oil filter housing) does not interfere quick in and out. 4 hours labor.

We went back with Toyota fluid and would you look at that? It is red to boot.
