Not needed! Window broken on Wednesday, got it installed on Sunday. Pretty crazy. MASSIVE shout out to @nuclearbeef for donating a window to the Red Rocket to keep it going. He has been more than kind to me over the years. I was lucky enough to have 2 of my freinds driving from CA -> NC on
I-40 and were able to pick it up on the way home.

She was determined to replace it since she was the one who broke it, I'm not complaining! Was a little odd to not be the one working on the Red Rocket for once 😂

So you either got your girlfriend to weed eat or she did it on her own without complaining, your window was broken by accident and she didn't blame you and say it's your fault because you didn't do the weed eating, and then she insisted on fixing your window.????? She's a keeper man. Don't mess it up.

I got my 24-volt ex-military Warn helicopter winch about 3 years ago now. I've used it a couple times when I've had no other choice but I've had to use jumper cables and a screwdriver to jump the terminals whilst hanging onto the front bumper... not the safest or easiest. Finally I've spent some time and money building a winch controller/contactor combination that is 24v compatible. All of the 24v Warn control boxes/contactors were all $400 or more, not doing that. Ended up finding a superwinch contactor made for an 18,000 lb winch they make that will work just fine with mine, wired into a Warn 3-pin controller socket and then found a NOS Warn utility winch controller on ebay for $20.

Speaking of kindness from strangers off the internet, @prwillard2 sent me all that winch wire on the winch for free among amongst a bunch of other odds and ends for it all those years ago. Thank you!

Just filled up and averaged 19mpg around town, 1mpg MORE than I was getting around town before the turbo and fuel turned up. Sweet. I'll be driving it home to Wilmington this week so I'll be excited to see if my MPG increases or decreases on the highway.

The part numbers are different in the system and after looking at the "new" window in person. It does infact have a bit of a bend in it.

The trip back home to Wilmington was a success!

Had a lot of fun with family and of course, had to get back to accelerating the rust just like in high school.

Used the onboard air to air up from 20psi to 45psi. Right next to the air compressor the hose was hot but other than that, everything seemed pretty cool. Maybe the 24v helps with the efficiency of things compared to a 12v compressor.

Good time mobbing around with friends as well.

New air filter for some upcoming mileage I'll be putting on this thing.

Was racking my mind trying to think of a way to hold these drawers shut (especially the bottom) Stumbled upon some old seat belts for the troopys bench seats and put them to use.

Since there's no junkyard in Boone or really anywhere nearby, I took advantage of having one nearby and snagged a coolant overflow tank from a 2nd gen 4runner with the 3.blow. I haven't run an overflow for the past 3-4 years of the engine swap but figured it couldn't hurt to add one back to it since it did have one while in the box truck.

ALSO! Here is my rough route for the upcoming cross-country trip I'll be doing in the Red Rocket. Anyone and everyone who would like to meet up and chat or offer a place to shower, etc. Let me know! Planned ETA to leave Boone, NC is September 5th. I'll be in SLC, Utah on September 12th for Cruiser Fest 2026 at the Land Cruiser Museum. Going the northern route first, I don't really have a planned timeline for anything after SLC.

epic, I'm looking to do almost the same west coast route but down from bc into montana and around...
Gotta do my 5th gear, clutch and transfer case gears first, and a pop top of some description...

How far south are you going in NorCal before you start heading east towards Yosemite?

Awesome man, wish you the best with all the mechanical repairs in your future.

Point Reyes, then bombing over to Yosemite, then heading right back over to Monterey.

Looks like you're going through Yellowstone then over Beartooth Pass? Give me a shout when you're in the area, would be fun to finally meet up! I haven't driven Beartooth yet this year and need to get up there before the snow sets in.

In Colorado you should check up on wildfires past and current.
I planned to do more of the Alpine Loop near Ouray last month but fires there put me off.

If you like history try to hit the Lander Wyo area for covered wagon era sites.

Ping me if you’re looking for ideas of things to see during the stretch from southern Oregon to Yosemite. Mid September into early October should be a great time from Eureka down to Point Reyes on the NorCal coast.
You’ll also be passing pretty close to Valley Hybrids in Stockton when you start your hop over to Yosemite.

If you're out in Washington State and near Seattle, it'd be a shame to miss out on the Olympic Peninsula and Olympic National Park. It such a gorgeous and diverse area. Plus you can stop in Forks and see things about sparkly vampires.

If you need any assistance with the truck, I’m near B in AZ.

Also, if you want to hang out and drink beer, I’m around and know lots of cool places for you all to drop out and have fun.

Had some more splitting issues of my caulk on this side... kinda concerning, don't know why it's splitting. Anyways I cut most all of it out, cleaned it, and shoved some more sika 221 into it. At nighttime may I add, probably won't be doing that again 😂 I swear it looked so much smoother when lit up by a floodlight on the side of a house.

3 years ago at the 70 series meet and greet, my underneath spare tire carrier fell off on a trail. I believe @nuclearbeef was the one who was behind me and proceeded to lay on the as an alert that my tire just fell off haha. Well a month ago I had one of my freinds give me his old victory 4x4 spare tire swingout that came on his 2016 tacomas bumper. He severely neglected it for years to the point where his swingout wouldn't swing anymore, one mans trash is another mans treasure. The bearings were so bad that there weren't any more rollers!
IMG_1552.webp

So I started mocking stuff up. I kinda really need a spare tire for this trip. Plus a trasharoo would be sweet to throw over it.
IMG_1833.webp

Had to cut the actual carrier itself in half and weld it back at the proper angle (flat) to work with my bumper. Picture below is from before it was cut.
IMG_1831.webp

Cut the spindle in half and welded it to the bumper. It was originally bolted through the bottom of the victory 4x4 bumper, but I'm hoping some 7018 with the amps turned up will hold it just fine.

Photo from before I made some sort of latch catch.
IMG_1853(1).webp

Came out half decent!
IMG_1906.webp

Then last night we did a trial camping run to see what needed to be improved or any minor things we could change that would be helpful before the big trip.
IMG_1881.webp

and then had to do a little bit of wheeling in order to get out of the campsite.

Yes thats the plan! Was definitely banking on meeting up with you if that's possible. Would be awesome to drive the Beartooth together if you wanted!
In Colorado you should check up on wildfires past and current.
I planned to do more of the Alpine Loop near Ouray last month but fires there put me off.

Noted, feel like I'll be dodging wildfires throughout the entire trip. Thanks for the heads up.

I definitely will, didn't even think of stopping by Valley Hybrids. Definitely will be now.
Road trip !

You are going to miss my part of the world this time, I’m right off of I80.

Let me know if you want a small sidetrack off of i70 at Colby KS. Doors always open and the lake is not busy that time of year at all.
Man, that's why I said rough route! That's just the generalish path we are going to take, just gonna play stuff by ear when we actually get out there. If I'm making decent time to SLC and have an extra half a day or so I'd love to stop by and just say hi at the least. We'll see.
Hard to tell your route, but if you come through Salida, CO on US50, give me a buzz.
Steve
Plan to, I've stopped at Classic Cruisers on all of my trips in the past.
Hello,

Godspeed.

Enjoy the journey.

Juan
I will! Thanks for the kind words

I'm really excited to spend some time in Washington and Oregon. I've never been to Washington before and only seen a glimpse of OR on my first XC trip. Will definitely be checking out all you have listed.
If you need any assistance with the truck, I’m near B in AZ.

Also, if you want to hang out and drink beer, I’m around and know lots of cool places for you all to drop out and have fun.
Will definitely take you up on that... if the Red Rocket makes it that far 😂 I'll be in touch as and if we get closer to you
Would love to send some Wyndscreen stickers your way for that new glass!
I'll happily take some. Wonder if they will arrive in time tho.
