Have you looked at speedhut.com for gauges? I have them in mine and love them. They also have a programmable fuel gauge that will work with any sender

I had not. That is better pricing and you can choose the colors and bezel options - looks like I could even put a lttle TEQ in the dial if I wanted. That is neat. Thanks for the link.

I can't recall what transmission/transfer you are running, Andy. (I may recall your speedo is not hooked up :hhmm: ) I was thinking I would use the Marlin speed sensor to easily mate the electric speedo to the split toyota Xfer case.

im running a stock 4sp t-case with a VSS that runs off the speedo cable. (had to have that for the Vortec) the speedo gets a signal from the VSS. Speedhut also has a speedo that uses GPS so theres no programing. Ill bring some picks of mine to the meeting this week.

That Marlin VSS adapter will fit the 40 (and most other toyota) tcase gear senders. It is 45 bucks. Just need to clip the pig tail off 90s model Yoda to plug it in.

I feel ya on the windshield. I helped with my brothers and it was a BITCH! I guess the worst part was not letting it slip and fuc\< up the paint. Looking good Chris . Keep the pics coming

This is about all I got done today.
I did some reading on putting an FJ60 brake booster in the truck. Some guys said it has to be turned over to allow the vacuum to be hooked up. That didn't make sense to me as a short piece of hose can easily solve that. What I discovered was the protruding parts will not align to fit through the firewall unless it is flipped. So off came the master and more cleaning an spray painting had to occur.

I also got a handle on my fuel lines since I am running an old Confer tank and a stock tank. I had to wrap my head around all the various fitting available for a mod like that. I am going to use some -an fittings, and a combo of hard and soft lines.

Looking good! Keep it up! What gauges did you decide to go with? I like the look of the one you posted, but 10k rpm's is so excessive for a 40! haha

I am going to go with the Speedhut gauges suggested by radioridge.
Kits Gauge, Speedhut Gauge Series by SpeedHut

I am going to use a black bezel. The site is pretty neat. It allows you to design the look of the gauges yourself. I like that they are very shallow too.

Boring day at work so I got my fuel system figured out. Some would say I am over doing it with Army Navy fittings. To them I say :flipoff2:

Made a little progress today as I was off for Presidents Day.
I discovered I had a nearly new FJ60 power steering high pressure hose so I brought that, along with an old brake line to the local hydraulic place. He stocks Toyota fittings so I dropped the stuff off to have the guy make me a couple longer soft lines to go from the axles to the body and shorted the FJ60 line to make it fit my purpose. I am running an FJ60 PS pump and a mini truck box. The fittings on the high pressure sides are the same.

I also cut a hole in the old Confer aux tank for a sending unit and lengthened an FJ40 sender Yooper gave me some time ago. I just cut the rod and brazed in about three additional inches. Then I dropped the tank off to get dipped and sealed. It was bad inside.

Then I sand blasted a bunch of small parts and primed them.

The things on the left are the spring activated hold downs from under the seat of an FJ60 I parted. I am going to put them in the under seat tool box. The things on the left hold the wiring harness to the windshield frame.

I also mounted the tool box latches Rob sent me. Thanks for those Rob!

I also replaced the torn expanded metal in the heater vent with some rat wire.

I actually epoxied it in place since the wire was so thin it did not want to weld.
Works for me. I will paint it later.

Finally, I found my gasket material and made a paper gasket to go between the master cylinder and the booster. It isn't pretty but it will do the job and it is going to do it for free. :meh:

Booster and cylinder are also out of the '86 FJ60. I had to shorten the shaft at the pedal about a half inch and after turning over the booster it fit right in.

Just a short piece of tubing will get me to the vacuum port.

In between all that I had to go to the dentist for my 6 month check up and cleaning. On New Years Eve I bit down on an olive pit that was not supposed to be present and have had some discomfort since. Turns out I cracked an upper moler and a filling in a lower moler. I have two filling in my whole head and I fxxxed them both up. So I am wearing a temporary crown and have to get the permanent one in three weeks. That was $$1200 I was not prepared to spend. :crybaby:

Nevertheless, I came home and place an order with, of all places, JT Outfitters for a couple of S Port Seats to make my PS set up happy.
These guys:

Now I am drinking to numb the financial and physical pain.

I know it could be worse, right DD?

dude... I finally got to reading this.........

would you ever be interested in factory soft doors? I got a set I been saving, plus the correct hinges to make them removable. If you have a tan paki canvas I even got enough fabric to redo. doors need to be blasted and new plex glass but they are all there... I just dont know if I will ever get to them and if you wanted a set maybe we could work somthing out? :)

Also do you have the doom light that came on the factory soft trucks or did you fill that hole in the dash?

Hey everybody!
If you don't check out the Home Improvement section, it was posted that Sears has their ball bearing tool boxes on sale 50% off!
I scored this center section for my roll around for $50!

DSC00001.webp

No matter your current opinion is about Craftsman, it is a good deal.

DSC00002.webp

Noice!

Also, checked the fitment on the shortened FJ60 PS high pressure line.

Thanks for the donation Bowser!
