You can't really see it there but the outside of the "B-Pillar" is green, as is the top of the door jamb (which is obviously not on there yet).
I powder coated the rest of the stuff black which will match the windshield hinges and rear door hinges. I have both a white and black bezel so when I get that far I will have to see what they both look like. (I will likely go with white though.)
I am going to go with black seats too. It was a toss up between black and the tan to match the top but I thought it would look funny if the tan colors did not quite match so black it is.

Boy wif da hoods...
What could be more boring than trying to make a couple hoods flat again?
I think the late model one is ready for primer Saturday.

Paki top question...

Like I said, a little at a time...

I found the spacer tubes that prevent the windshield from going back to far but I am not sure I ever had the brackets that go in either corner on the inside with the nut plates on them. :hhmm:

Here is a question for Paki Top fans. Is this right? Do I have the horizontal bars on the wrong side? I read in another thread that the middle cross bar goes on the outside but there are tanks on the horizontal bat that seem to be there to assure the middle bow does not twist. I would think if those tabs point out they could tear the top.

Looks correct to me. I was looking at my bows(original not replica) and mine look just like yours unless I'm not looking correctly.

So I definitely might be partly right?

I think it is Biscuit who posted they should be on the outside.

But from some searching I found this one:

Thanks for chiming in. I think it will stay like it is.

I would try switching the horizontal bow so they are smooth on the outside. I would think it would it be look better and one less place to rub. But that is just a guess. All my OEM bows are totally different. The center bow fit flush with the horizontal bows and there is horizontal flange on the inside. Some of my sets have the nuts welded others have the bolt welded.

Another question for you. Are you planning to use Ambulance style doors? Is that the reason to switched the tub barn doors? I really would like to do that to a very early soft top tub. The main problem is all the soft top ambulance doors I've seen are design for a spare tire on the drivers side. So the door open on the wrong side first.

I believe the tub you got from CA is like your other one a late 71. Which is a plus. Pretty sure you have the heavier steel and the rib bent for a brake booster. The 72 had stamped louvers on both sides of the cowl. 71 was the last year for the bolt on grill for fresh air intake.

looking good brother! I loved The Great Gazoo growing up...

I see what you mean. I am afraid that the tab bent in on what is currently the inside may do more damage if it were pointed out.

Nope, just a roll up rear hatch.

Yep. The body is a factory soft top from '71. It was set up with a tailgate but I changed to the doors since the sill was so bad and the doors were free as opposed to the five pills or more for a tailgate. (Although I kinda like the tailgate better.) I need to double check the frame number. I think it was manufactured in late '72 making the truck actually registered as a '73. It is appropriate it is green since it is truly a frankencruiser.

I could see it was asoft top originally. The threaded holes for the eye bolts safety straps. I also think your right about the frame. The tube that is behind the transfer case has the bend for the longer four speed. My Feb 73 has it and I think all 73s did even thought we didn't get a four speed here in the US until early in the 74 model year.

I did not know that. The PO of my other truck did the cut to put in the 4 speed and now it is a total pita to service the parking brake.

I installed a four speed into my 68 back in 1994 and didn't cut or mod anything on the frame. Then used a 74-78 transmission hump cut off in the back for the extra height. The tube behind the transfer case is the way for working on the hand brake or replacing the clutch.

Sounds like its coming together pretty good Chris. You better hurry if your gonna have it ready for the trails by GSMTR!
