If you had a couple pairs of 8' 4x4s you could make a jig that would twist the tailgate back to straight.

It needs a set of these:

When removing the carrier tape it is good to first make sure the letters are really burnished down and then lightly spray the masking with windex. Rub it until the paper side of the mask is damp (you do not have to soak it). Wait a minute and then slowly peel it back on itself.

Big metal tools are usually of little help. :D

thanks for the advice, but the stickers were too old - no amount of persuasion made them want to stick :frown: (which is why I had to take the pic with the film on)

it's a special service tool :p :flamingo:

Did some tire/wheel test fitting, 315's, used a spacer to simulate the FJ60 axle. It's close, hoped to run the bushwacker flares (have a new set), but maybe not, especially if the axle is moved back?

WHAT ?

the tires would stick out too much

Back in the day we use to go to Nogales and get upholstery work and tops made a whole lot cheaper use to have to give them the thread to sew it with. A couple days of tequila and they were ready to pick up. Is that not possible any more?

Mine is an fj62-width fzj80 full floater with 16x7s, 4" backspacing and 315-75/16s. The tires stick out just a little and would tuck if I removed the bump stops.
So, you made an FJ 60 sized full floater out of an FZJ full floater?

Yea, pics in my 'after' thread. We cut the passenger's side down about 5", as I recall. Bobby Long made me a custom double-splined e-locker shaft and it has his drive flange on it. Rubicon proven now. All OEM Toyota disc brakes and e-brakes that I don't currently use for anything, but if I want to go to a split case someday, I can.

I was in Nogales in 2005. Didn't feel that unsafe. From what I understand, it's not safe now at all for Americans.

I've got the axle back 2" with bushwacker flares and fj62 axles and it's perfect as far as width.

Sorry about the bad pics

The new spring perches allow the option of moving the axle back ~1". This would come in handy with the H55 and split case going in, the drive shaft is going to be short and angled. Anything we can get will be helpful?

Thanks for that, looks encouraging. Agree, the width looks good. From looking at the rig and pix, my concern is more about rearwards flare/quarter opening clearance when fully flexed/compressed. With the 4" springs, when compressed, the axle/tire moves significantly rearwards, going to be close! As of now, the tub is just sitting on the frame, so can't do a flex test, yet, and it sitting higher that it will be mounted, so can't be sure,,, yet.:hillbilly:

Look up browns upholstery in mesa they are not far from Kevin's place. They can make or sew anything you need and they are very reasonable. Also you ca. Negotiate the price a bit. They do very good work.

I left the front of the opening uncut and cut everything from the rear of the well opening. Under full compression with 2" aft axle, no rub anywhere. I used a front CV shaft from an '86 FJ60 as I had a bit of vibration at about 65 mph. Now it's perfect.
My rims are standard 15x8 Sunraysias. They do stick out a bit more than my steel 80 series 16" rims did but the backspace is similar.

I plan to go another 1" aft when I put 60 series rear springs in.

Good deal, those look to be mounted significantly more rearward than these.

more came off the truck at the rocker panels

mangleage anyone ? - yeah, we got that

Can you help a brother out - how/where do those mount under the 40?

We took them off and now it only looks like one side of the bracket mounts? That doesn't seem right...

TIA,
