Looked at Kut Snake’s web site.
Seem to have no offering for the 200 listed under Menu>Products>Toyota.

??

That’s odd...they certainly make them. I’d reach out to Erik at Adventure Trucks if you’d like more information. It was a bit of a headache trying to get answers from both the company and their Aussie vendors. Erik had, by far, the best pricing as well.

I looked into getting those flares a while back and at the time @mmcinnis had a set in stock.

I have a set of kutsnake 200 flares in stock. Mike McInnis

We're bring flares in almost every week now....big order coming in next week. 200s are big and require their own box.

I think I might have some 200s already inbound.

Stocking 80/100s. Probably going to have some 70 stuff around too.

Glad to hear there are some good domestic options for the Kut Snake flares.

Next up: Roof Rack and Accessories

I knew I wanted to run a solar panel on the roof, but it needed to be stealthy and protected against gear being thrown up top, and keeping the rack as low-profile as possible was important so I can still get into taller garages.

Huge thanks to Tim at Gamiviti, who worked with me to customize one of his Expo racks to my specs. Essentially, we created a secondary reinforced opening similar to the sunroof cutout. The panel is mounted to vertical tabs that line the rim of the cutout. The grid that runs along the bottom of the rack switches to the top of the rack over the solar panel for protection.

I decided to go with the Renogy Eclipse 100 watt monocrystalline panel. The size allows me to mount a rotopax on one side and a low-profile pelican case on the other for waterproof roof storage. A pair of maxtrax are mounted forward of the panel but still allow full use of the sunroof. All are low enough that they don’t interfere with the panel that much. Initial testing shows the Renogy Eclipse still pulls in a surprising amount of juice even in partial shade or overcast weather. Since returning to civilization, I’ve removed the rotopax, maxtrax and pelican case for optimal (fixed) panel performance.

Tim did an awesome job. The panel fits the cutout like a glove and it is completely hidden unless you physically climb up on the rear bumper. The panel doesn’t protrude under the rack at all, which allows me to run the rack very low to the roof.

Tim also customized the front opening to fit the 40” Rigid light bar.

Rotopax, maxtrax, hi-lift, and awning are mounted with four-treks aluminum mounts. The Pelican case is mounted with PVC-coated U-bolts that pierce the bottom of the case through IP-rated grommets.

Hat tip to Eric for the installation photos.

Wow. Extremely similar to my hope to do solar on a rack, without ipreventing occasional kayaks, etc.
Nice a low. I have imagines a larger pnel, or perhaps 2 or 3 smalls like that, but I am interested in this for sure.

Any details on the panel itself, manager etc. would have me all ears.

Tim @nakman is awesome to work with! So glad he is willing to do custom work. My new rack had the bars spaced to accomodate the maxtrax mount pins like you are using, only my maxtrax run front to back.

Cool stuff, please continue sharing photos!

For sure - next installment will be electrical. A lot to cover on that front as well!

Here’s a shot of the panel mounting without the accessories.

Random related thoughts...

The jumper units from Noco can charge off of literally almost ANY level of charge via their 12V inputs. At the very least...even meager sun could keep it topped off—though I find the battery loses very little even after months. What’s cool though is that in a pinch...the larger Noco has power enough to run/charge a lot of things besides just being a starter. I use it to run a shower water pump away from the vehicle...charging devices in a tent and even a small AC inverter if a random charger needs a boost independent of my truck. Might be a great type of device to utilize any solar juice...

Yes Tim was awesome to work with!

If you ever have need of an alternate mounting position for the maxtrax, the nice thing about the four treks mounts is that you don’t have to rely on bar spacing for placement.

That’s a great idea. I’ve been thinking about one of those as a backup...makes it a little easier to justify the size and weight if you’re getting more use out of it!

Just noticed your awning clamp bolts are rusting.. then again you've probably already noticed with your build standard so far.

Yessir, the hardware is stainless, powder coated black. Now every one of those bolts is rusting. Not sure exactly what’s going on.

Who did your headlight blackouts?

Worth noting, the snorkel requires an Aussie lower airbox to avoid installation headaches...

Do you happen to have the lower airbox part number? Is it the diesel box?

Sorry, I don’t — Dominique at Fabulous was kind enough to source the lower airbox for me and include it with the snorkel. I don’t think it’s the diesel box but I’m not certain.

Haven't been able to update this in a while, but I wanted to share some progress we made on the build over the summer.

Trekboxx, Rhino bumper, and Warn Zeon 12k were installed. Rewiring all of the electrical was no simple feat, but the result is super clean and I couldn't be happier. I also switched the rear springs to 2723s and it's a big improvement. Still need to do a post on the whole electrical system (LiFe battery/Inverter/Manager30/Solar etc.). Soon!
