I have to cut and turn a front housing to make this Pig drivable anyway so in my brain it shouldn’t take any more time or money to narrow the long side to 40 width at the same time. But I have only narrowed Ford 9“ rearends and have no experience with Toyota front ends and it’s quite possible I’m not seeing the big picture.

I bought someone’s unfinished dream 60 for the axles and ARB’s but I was tracking down some Toyota E-lockers before this deal came up and to be honest I don’t see myself ever braking a stock axle or berfield in the mall parking lot or dirt roads this this pig is most likely to spend the bulk of its life but at this point a set of RCV axles are cheap insurance.

J Mack,

My same reasoning. With the added torque, I didn't want to find the next weak link, so tried to beef up every piece of the drivetrain. Sounds as if we're heading down the same dirt roads. When you're the only vehicle on the trail, you don't want to snap something.

Especially if I'm out of cell service, I’d hate to have to spend the night in Macy’s parking lot because of a broken axle.

We took the PIG out to an offsite long distance shooting match were a UTV was the vehicle of choice, other than a little episode were I decided to take a shortcut to a target the pig did great. It’s amazing how well these station wagons do off road.

You know it’s a long day of bouncing around when you bounce uncle SI’s legs off.

Go 60 axles stay stock width so that you don't need custom axles, if you want it closer to stock width do with a wheel with 1" more backspacing, that's only. 5" more per side. You get full floating rear, with parking brake.

Are all the 60 rear axles full floating?

All the ones I have seen have been semi-floating.

How wide are 70 axles?
Where can you find them?

I'd love to get a set with cable lockers! Especially if the bolt up without much fuss.

I think I’ll just stick with my stock rear housing and update the axles later if needed, I already bought the valve to hook up a hydraulic park brake and if it works as advertised I think it may be permanent solution.

UPS just dropped off some good stuff that I could have used Saturday.

If you look close you see a little Pig stuck on a hill.

Early 70 axles are bolt in and same width.

@AlbertoSD has an elocked pair for sale in classifieds thinking rickd had cable locked, which are rare.

Spoke to a west coast importer who quoted ~$5k for a complete pair of cable locked....both needing rebuilt, late last summer.

Cool, but price may dictate their remaining under a 70.

J Mack,

Is that the master cylinder? Everything is looking good. That five point harness is scary looking.

That's right, I forgot you're going diesel.

sitting on that hill, are you hauling the target, or are you the target.

The shooting position was at the top of the hill and the targets were at the base of the ravine, this was the high angle part of the course and had some targets at different ranges and extreme angles.

After the shoot we volunteered to help round up all the targets and the guys warned me that the hill was too steep and not conducive to driving a full size vehicle but for whatever reason I decided not to heed that warning, long story short they were right and what they neglected to tell me is two guys rolled their ATV’s the day before trying the same thing.
