Zoom in on my valance panel. I took this photo before I put a winch on. The winch destroys any use of it.

Front springs V-4 and although their close I think they are still an inch or two too tall, this is about the ride height with the 350# of added weight.

For now I’m going to focus on getting the front sheet metal in paint and engine compartment finished and deal with ride height later.

Started working on the engine compartment wiring and made a bracket to hold some relays, battery isolator and overflow reservoir, I’ll make a Kydex cover once I mount the reservoir. A couple more puzzles to solve and I can dissemble to paint.

I was wondering where you were mounting the Power Gate. Run out of room real fast in the engine compartment.

Oh man does it ever, I spent three hours looking for an expansion tank today that would fit in the space I had left after mounting these electrical parts, I should have everything here and mounted by the end of the week.

I used that same relay (on the left) to upgrade my 8274. Works like a champ.

Thanks Dave!

I bought that relay as a place holder until I decided on the winch I’m going to buy, I like the Warn 9.0RC and it would have fit nicely in the spot I want to mount in but I didn’t like the 50’ of rope idea, after spending countless hours flip-flopping all over the map I decided to order the Warn M8000-s and narrow it up to fit 80’ of rope. Motor specs are similar and Gear ratio specs are the same on the 9.0RC and the M8000 so I’m hoping it will make good little winch.

I ran an M8000 for years on my old 100 series. Worked well and didn't weigh much or take up a ton of room. Plus, you can find them cheap (compared to an 8274) if you go the used route.

HA, yes cheap is good, buying a winch was like buying a vacuum cleaner, I know I need one but I just couldn’t get excited about it so I just bought the cheapest one that would get the job done.

Blown away with this build. Just finished reading from the beginning.

Keep it up sir

Thank you GHTHF60,

I been following the MoonShine build on a couple of sites and learned a lot, keep up the good work I have enjoyed all the detail you share!

Trying to get enough rust free parts to make a pig snout, I’m having a hard time with the striker plate bolts. My cowl has a space behind the two top bolts and it would appear something about ½” thick ¾” wide would fit in these holes to act as a spacer for the striker plate? Do any of you guys know what goes in these two spots?

Hard to see in this picture but it’s the top center two holes for the hood striker plate.

J Mack,

Here's mine, just bolts.

Thanks Ron, looks like Toyota changed that section sometime between our years.

This is a better picture showing the slots I’m talking about. My issue is when bought the rig nothing was in there and the slots were crushed I tighten the bolts it's doing the same and I cant believe that is correct.

I missed something! You have a SUA what lift? What size tire? I like the way it sits.:):beer::pig::pig::pig: Just saw a Bald Eagle while typing this awesome sight.

Thanks Bob.

Thanks Bob, yes I’m SUA and I’m hoping for about a 3.5” to 4” level lift when all is said and done.
