Anybody got any experience with using a line-lock as an E-brake? I am doing a little research, and since the e-brake cable and hardware was gone when we got it, I am thinking that might be an easy solution. Thoughts?

I have line locks on both of my trucks. Great for temporarily holding truck. The ones I use are electric solenoids so you don't want to leave them on for long periods.

Like Roger said, line locks are good for stopping here and there, but not recommended for full time use. I'd say a manual one would be better if the primary intention is a parking brake though.

Food for thought for later though... One of my many crazy ideas for my project truck involves electric line locks. You can run a separate momentary switch up onto the shifter so that you can have full brakes without your foot on the pedal and then release quickly whenever needed. This is handy for those real steep sections if you have to stop or need some precise clutch/gas feathering but don't enjoy side-stepping pedals and/or having to roll your foot between the gas and brake pedals.

My 40 is setup with a B@M shifter handle with a push bottom for the line locks, this was the reason I originally installed them, when I was running a gas burner that would die on steep hills

Plus Clutch you get to see me wheel in my own rig!

Sounds good!

Heck traveling I could meet up and haul ur rig up; hubby has to drive his

Man, I can't catch a break! It is becoming painfully obvious to me that I definitely married up! As if I didn't already know that :D

Anyway, springs were delivered to the office yesterday and were waiting for me when I got in this morning, so I think all the pieces are there, now just need to get my happy butt in gear.

I think they're just going to paint them purple and call it good!

For you Steve :flipoff2:

Rear springs are on. Got right at 2" on the "good" side. Gotta finish brakes and get driveshaft in and should be ready to turn it around and start on the front.

Gonna need some bigger tires.

Yeah, I already thought that myself. But I figure that will wait until I go Toyota 6 lug. I will probably keep an eye out for some cheap 31's or 33's, but when I go toy drive-train, I am thinking a set of 35" pit-pulls is the way to go. :grinpimp:

Easy now, I have lots of other hats I have to wear and yesterday it was chauffeur for a 3 and a half year old. I mean I can't do everything. I feel like I hinder him though more than help sometimes cause of all the questions. When the little :princess: is home I can't be the cool wife who wrenches, I have to be mommy :p.

Overdue Updates!

So I know you all have been getting bits and pieces, but I finally got a minute to actually do a proper update. Will probably be a couple posts to be manageable, but it will be pic heavy.

First off I am going to go back a week or so and come forward from there.

So a couple weekends ago I did the backing plates and put the rear axles mostly back together.

Here is on of several new toys. I read on Amazon that this was the best bang for the buck and Lowes had one on the shelf.

Skil Drill Press.

Which when coupled with a 3" hole saw got me these

Learn from my experience and measure before you buy a new tool. You will notice the notch that I cut in the backing plates to let me actually get it onto the press to cut out the center. The bench-top press was not deep enough to get all the way to the center of the plates without the relief cut....

Pressed on new bearings and backing plate mod

Then with a little FIPG and it was ready for tires.

That weekend we also finished up the Drivers side paint and I put the new regulator and door mechanicals in the drivers door. No pictures, nothing exciting other than the fact that we can open both sides now.
