For the name it has changed but I am not sure to what yet. I thought it would be more fun to earn a name.

I was thinkin' the Green Pea. Insert your own jokes here.

So he drug me to his office tonight with nothing to do. So what DO I DO, naturally I invade his man territory (no pun intended although I'm sure you all will take it somewhere it wasn't supposed to go) and got a screen name. Haha! Let the heckling begin!

Bout time slacker!

LOL, I told her she could get a few more posts under her belt and then we can ask Woody if he can fix her screen name to be "Mrs Jynx". She didn't know she could have a space.

Tomorrow is looking like a beautiful day for spinning wrenches. Exhaust should go on pretty quick, and then I think the axle will come out and take a trip to the local car wash with my bottle of Super Clean and a brush for a good cleaning, then the real fun begins...

I am also already looking at what a VW Diesel Conversion would require. Not any time soon, but if I happen upon a motor, then I might pick one up for a rainy day. ;);) And keeping an eye out for a set of Toy Axles. :censor: This is going to be another thing that I hoard parts for....

I hope I can get the v6 sold so I can move on to assembling my 22RE when I get a free minute between the Zuk and the 80, I washed the pickup a few days ago and I feel like it needs some TLC. Sorry for the sidebar, just thinking out loud about all the **** I have on my plate.

Sam I aim to please.

Proof!

New exhaust is on and the steering stabilizer. Pictures later tonight.

Nice!

Hey Erin I need an axle put in the mini when you get done. :hhmm:

Dude, she is a quick study. Once we get both the Zuk axles rebuilt I will send her down to take care of that for you. :)

Well we are getting the rearend started today.

This work is a little above my pay grade so he handling it. Ask him how much he hates the bearing retainers.

Hopefully they will be here within the week. Just wanted to put it back under there so the neighbors don't complain.

Weekend Wrenching!!

Well, yesterday we threw down the gauntlet. Exhaust was a hot mess, so that got replaced with a complete new Bosal System from the manifold back.

I put Erin (Mrsjynx) to work on that one.

Two hose clamps and a couple ground tack welds and this was free.

I assume this is flexible exhaust, but it sure looked like flex electrical conduit to me...

Replaced by this:

The effin manifold flange bolts are those spring type and were a serious :censor: to get started and then because the Bosal Flange was a good bit thicker I had to be careful not to turn the springs inside out...

We were going to start it up and see how it sounded, but the battery had a whooping 2.34A, so I guess I need to add that to the list.

But on the positive side, the system is tucked nicely and should be well protected.

Then we moved onto the steering stabilizer. Pretty straight forward install. May have to adjust it after we get it up and going again.

Not bad for about 3 hours of work, short day because the 1st annual beerfest in the Gulch was yesterday afternoon and there was  to be drank.

Stay Tuned

Weekend Wrenching Day 2!!!

So Today started a little slow, to much fun at the beerfest yesterday.

Anyway, we started out pulling the axle. We took a trip to the $0.25 car wash with a bottle of Super Clean and pressure washed the :censor: out of the housing. I really wish I had gotten some before pictures, but if you remember what the bearing caps looked like in the first couple posts, just picture that inside the housing and tubes.... Super Clean is easily my new best friend, the housing is squeaky clean now inside and out. With the tubes cleaned we did see that they apparently burned thru the tube when doing the SOA and then had to "fix" it.

Here you can see the terrible spring again and the 12T stands keeping things up where we can get around underneath.
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/mrtucker80/SAM_1360_zps51ffdf5b.jpg

Little fresh paint on the housing
http://s84.photobucket.com/user/mrtucker80/media/SAM_1357_zps91b6e17a.jpg.html

Then while that was drying I went onto removing the old axle bearings. Had to grind down the retainers and then use my newly acquired press and splitter to press them off. Major suckage :bang:

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/mrtucker80/SAM_1351_zps383762e0.jpg

Got the shafts stripped and ready for the new bearings.

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/mrtucker80/SAM_1358_zps62645438.jpg

I am doing a axle retainer mod which uses a smaller square retainer plate along with a modified brake backing plate which will allow for the axle to be removed without having to disassemble the rear brakes. The retainers are on the order with the springs so the new bearings are on hold until those arrive, but we did go ahead and get the new chunk cleaned up, painted and dropped in.

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/mrtucker80/SAM_1362_zps704dc4f7.jpg

Sealed it up with a little Toyota Red FIPG  So that counts right. I decided not to throw a lot into these chunks right now, I will fiddle with them as needed until I get ready to do the Toy axle swap.

So we went ahead and slung them back under the rear so it didn't have to camp in some random place in the garage until the springs get here.

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/mrtucker80/SAM_1364_zps3a9dd356.jpg

So when the next order gets here getting the wheels back on the ground should be pretty quick.

For now the next items on the list are the new window regulators and door hardware, painting, and Air Tank and propane tank relocation's, and a new battery... :bang:

And again, the Mrs says:

STAY TUNED!!!

(I love that picture, I may have to make it smaller so I can use it to tag the update posts in this thread) :grinpimp: Or maybe it will be her Avatar once she hits 10 posts.

Those are super secret inverse flex springs!! The hose clamp retainers are patented and trademarked :flipoff2:

Yeah, like Erin said, we have a new set of rear springs and bushings on the way. I wish I had gotten them ordered sooner so we could have had them here for this weekend. I think we could have had it back on all fours by now, oh well. Of course we are still searching for a rear D-shaft before it will actually be able to move.
