Soflobumpers 80 series rear bumpers

If this was a homemade bumper, I would say something nice and encouraging to the builder, and I would mean it. Since this is being marketed for sale, I will say that bumper is fugly and why the heck don't the pictures match? Doesn't match the body lines or "fit" with the look of the cruiser. On the profile shot, just focus your attention to the area directly behind the wheel well. Looks like someone designed it using a cardboard template and then ran out of 7up boxes and just said "OK, done!"

I just comment on a post on his FB page and he answered right away. Which is good. The client with the PA plates spends half the year in FL and the other half in Philly, makes sense.

I'm not gonna lie... This is a decent looking bumper for $950. I'd get a generic pintle loop to use as a recovery point and maybe see if I could find someone to modify that gas can carrier hold two cans. Looks like there's probably room to mount a couple flush LED back-up lights too.

Saw this same bumper on a local LX470 that the owner bought from Soflobumpers and he's planning to buy a front bumper from Soflobumpers and was looking for a local group buy to ship all of these by truck to save freight.

I was there for another item so I didn't look carefully at the bumper the the owner likes it.

Well, I did it. I pulled the trigger and bought one of these dual swing-out rear bumpers - the one pictured above on the tan 80. I had a long talk with the guy who sells these and he was really upfront about what the bumper is and isn't. I'll do a full write-up once it's installed. For the price, I'm cautiously optimistic!

What did he say about it? Every time I have emailed him he responds quickly

Paraphrasing/bullet-pointing...

-They're imported from some factory that makes bumpers for all sorts of vehicles that are sold all over the world.

-His design is based on the Kaymar, but is being tweaked here and there on each batch.

-He could use thicker steel, but that he deliberately uses thinner steel to keep the weight down.

-Future models will probably have a gas strut to hold the swing-arms open. One customer has already made this mod.

-It mounts to all factory mounting locations.

-Rear mud flaps fit with some minor trimming.

-He kinda thinks of it as a starting point and expects people to mod as needed.

-He and his family have had a bunch of Land Cruisers over the last 30+ years and he's very familiar with the vehicle.

@SkyMall , which profile is the bumper? The nice looking angled one or the horrid square thing that is 5 inches from the wheel well?

This picture is one that he sent showing how the factory mud flaps can be trimmed to fit with the bumper installed. It shows a previous generation of the bumper that had slightly different swing-outs but the profile of the actual bumper is the same. NOTE: The bumper ships with the silver diamond plate not attached. It's an optional piece.

Wow... I had been ignoring this thread after first seeing them but I'm pretty intrigued now. They're not incredible looking, but I don't necessarily dislike them. Pretty awesome to get a double swingout bumper for ~$1,000. I always planned to get the double swingout kit from 4x4Labs and weld myself, but that's still ~$1400 and then a crap load of work. I don't need any serious armor or clearance, so this SoFlo might actually fit the bill (and my budget)... I'm interested to see what you think of it, @SkyMall. Keep us updated!

Yeah I'm with @2 E L O on this. It's a good price and my cruiser isn't just here for looks, a dual swingout bumper is super handy even if it is a tad odd looking.

I was in need for a rear tire carrier as I hated how much room my spare was taking up in the area of the 3rd row. But I ran across SoFlo bumpers on facebook and was intrigued for a few weeks until I bit the bullet and messaged them online. They sent me a invoice via paypal and awaiting a tracking number currently. I will post pictures when it arrives as I can quite excited I get to mount my 5th TE37 on the back of my rig with more room inside the and have my Jerry can outside of my cabin for trips. I'll post an update once I get it in week since I am located in SoCal

@2 E L O , I'll definitely post a full review when I get it. I'm out traveling for work and I had the bumper shipped directly to my mechanic to be installed while I'm traveling. I probably won't ever see it un-mounted, but I'll take some good pictures and post them. FWIW, SoFlo Bumpers shipped next day. I ordered it less than 24 hours ago and I just got the tracking number for R+L Carriers. Shipping was $150 FL to AR.

@Yeti80 Do you think you can weigh the whole thing before you mount it? Maybe get some shots of the back side of the bumper pre-mounting?
