nope, don't think topcoats is necessary unless it is going to see uv light....

also, if you look on eastwoods website they have a product called heavy duty anti rust, the stuff is great, like a waxy film that you can spray into the different channels, I have used it on all my trucks in the rocker panels, etc.

I took Guppie's advice and painted on Zero Rust, today. It looks like a good product, semi thick. I am going to spray on Lizard Skin next. Here's what it looks like.

Going today to pick up the Lizard Skin coatings, for the next layer. While I was waiting, started playing with the rear cross member. Took out the old one and cut up a new one.

I want to be able to bolt up a heavy bumper, spare tire, etc. and have a receiver hitch, that tow something without bending.

So, here's some pictures, of where I'm at.

I drilled all the mounting holes big and welding in DOM tubing, so I can put the smoke to the bolts. Really just playing with metal.

I guess, you noticed the title change. Wanted something to reflect my work, so I asked Tucker to change it to a SLOW 71 build. Here's the cross member all welded and painted up.

I would like to ask everybody's opinion on this one. Getting ready to spray Lizard Skin on the underside of the roof. I decided to remove the metal braces, as there was some rust, under the padding. Question, when I reinstall the bracing, do I put back some kind of padding, under the bracing or let it empty, foam, etc. The head liner will be going up later. Here's some pictures for everyone's concideration.

You'll want something to pad the metal braces just so you don't get an unwanted rattle or vibration induced slapping of the braces and roof.

That's what I was thinking. What would you suggest. Would a expanding spray foam work. I don't want condensation getting in there.

I would go with something like Dyna-mat on the roof looks good and clean and does a great job of getting rid of unwanted road noise.
But looking good so far!

The product I'm using for the sheet metal, is called Lizard Skin. It's a spray on deadener, I'll use it on the floor, both sides and firewall, doors. I need something under the stiffener and dome light, to keep them from rattling. That mat could work, alot to buy for just the little I would need.
