I just seen the picture of my welds. That bottom weld doesn't look that bad, in person. Really :o. I had to run out to the shop, just to check, must be the light. Next time I'll remember not to drink my two beers until after I weld!

The Vetteworks mounting ring got delivered Friday, so I cut the hole and welded it up. Worked out very well. With the pump installed, I am @ 5/8" from the bottom of the tank. I don't feel that is enough to worry about. If I ever have to pull the pump, it is aligned with the trap door on the body.

I'll take it to the city, next week to get boiled out. The tank does look very clean, of what I can see.

One step closer to mounting the body for good! :)

The other day we had that 40 degree temp. swing and my whole shop was sweating bad. Everything that wasn't painted, was rusting fast. So, I ran around with a rattle can and primered the rust.

My buddy Tim and I had a good day in the shop. Replaced all the spring bushings with poly ones, since I melted some, welding the spring hangers . We also got the motor mounted, hopefully for the last time.

The fuel tank got cleaned out and painted this week, so it's ready to go.

Ige was right, when I dropped the motor in, the springs settled down and the swaybar brackets look like they will work.

Nice work on the fuel pump, you did the right thing installing it in the tank. The one thing that always bugged me on the 3FE swap in my 40 was the whining of the external fuel pump :frown:

Tucker

You know the difference between a Cruiser wife and an external fuel pump?

Wait for it...

The fuel pump stops whining when you turn it off!!!

Hey, I'm in town all week! Try the veal, and don't forget to tip your waitstaff!

Oh that's so bad! I was going to show my wife, but she wouldn't get it. :)

Years ago I had an electric fuel pump on my 40. I threw a rock up, running the gravel bars and knocked out the pump. I think this setup is going to work great.

I know my posts are few and far inbetween, but I'm glad you're enjoying it so far.

Hey Travis,

I think shops are like boats, you always want it two foot bigger. I'm thinking about adding another room on the end, just for the bigger tools, sandblast cab., etc. It never ends!

Everybody on Mud, has some kind of project going, from mild to wild and it's a good lesson on patience for all of us, just keep moving forward a little at a time. I just hope I don't run out of time! :)

Ha!!! Great pic.

When I was a kid, my dad and I took a trip to Missouri (from Cali) and the 55 broke down just east of Flagstaff. I remember walking along hwy40 picking up pieces of the distributor cap. We got up the next day, fixed the 55, drove through the painted desert (do it if you get the chance) and stopped by Winslow. My dad is an Eagles fan (never cared for them much myself).

Ahhh the memories :).

Travis,

Sounds like your Dad and me have alot in common and I bet he doesn't know those music bands, either.

I decided to make my own front swaybar hangers, because I think the 60 frame must be alittle wider than a 55. The stock 60 hangers were away from the frame Maybe 3/4 inch on each side.

I have to make the rear ones also, alittle more involved though.

I need some opinions, Thinking my exhaust will be routed down the driver's side, so should I keep all the lines, fuel and brake, on the pass. side. I'd rather have them come up on the driver's side, so I don't have to go across the firewall, but not sure about the heat issue. Let me hear some thoughts.
