Hey Ron,

I've reviewed your thread (and continue to be impressed), but have a question despite all the detail.

Do you have any photos of where your air supply for the locker exits the third member? I'm gonna lock up the front (first) so it'll be a little different but I'm going around and around trying to imagine and plan where to drill BEFORE I do it.

I don't want to divert your thread back to there at this point; if you've got something I can look at maybe you can add a pic or two back in those posts? Or email a couple to me. Anything helps.

Thanks, Travis.

Travis,

Sorry I don't have better shots.

First one is the front pumpkin gears, showing the routing of the air line.

Second one, you can see blue tape covering the air nipple.

Third one is the rear, but in the same location as the front.

Hope these help.

wow..... what a sweet build... !!!!!

Hey Manuchao,

Thanks for checking out my build. Don't get too many 60 guys, down here. Moving forward, good , bad or otherwise.

Finished up the rear anti swaybar and mounted the fuel tank, hopefully for the last time. It all fits!

Moving on to the winch. All you winch guys, know the shear pin is way too small and drilling out the yoke is risky. On my yoke the metal was just too thin, to drill out, so I'm going to braze a backing plate to the yoke, then drill a larger hole.

I posted this up in the winch forum, just to get some advice, comments or rude remarks :).

We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Got the winch taken apart today. Ordered new seals and gaskets from C. Dan. No cracks in the winch case and all the brass gears and bushings look good, so that's a plus.

BUT, there's always a but, Toyota doesn't stock the pillow block bearings on the PTO driveshafts. Anyone know what bearing to use. I can find the u-joints and I could use industrial pillow blocks, but would like to stay with Toyota.

Pablo, you have alot of winch knowledge, what say ye!

I love a good compliment, but I think you are giving me too much credit in this case...
You say you can find the u-joints, it is the bearings in the pillow blocks you seek?
I'd pull the bearings and go to an industrial supply shop to see if they can match...
That is what I did to rebuild my air pump.

Pablo,

Yes, the pillow block bearings. They also have two dust seals, one on each side. I've been talking the C. Dan and he says all those pieces are discontinued. So, you're right, I'll have to try and match up at a bearing shop. Seems odd no one has taken this on yet or I haven't read about it yet.

Anyway I'm learning more each day and that's good. We'll figure it out.

Thanks, Ron

Ron, if you have a problem let me know. We deal with a bearing shop that has bearings for Presses that are well I will say built in the 50s or older. And can get bearings. Let me know.

Thanks Bob.

If ToyMoCo has disco'd the pieces, I would say industrial supply would be the fastest/best use of your time.

We just have the one pillow block to deal with for forward reaching PTO, yes? On a Piggy it is just behind the front cross-member, eh?
Or are there more?
Anyone seen a PTO running to the rear on a Piggy? I would think that would be pretty darn rare...

Up here in Ft Collins, CO I deal with Rocky Mountain Supply, but I would look for a local industrial supply house you could walk into with your pillow block so they could mic it and find you a replacement you KNOW will fit.

Keep us posted!

Pablo,

The PTO shaft that came with my winch, is a three piece. Two pillow blocks and four u-joints. It will work better for me, because the headers are dumping right where the shaft is coming through. With the extra u-joint and pillow block, I can hug the frame and bypass everything ( hopefully!! )

A fellow mudder has a lead on a supply, of the pillow block bearings at Auto Nation. I'll get in contact with them and see what they are offering. I will also need two dust seals for each block. I haven't taken them apart yet, but they look like an oil seal.

Always something.

Here is my attempt at strengthing the whole shear pin yoke. With the added material to the yoke, I'll be able to use a 1/4" shear pin. Now my options are different grade bolts, if I have a need.

Brazing isn't my forte, but it should be strong enough. Alittle filing and paint, ready for the u-joint.

Still waiting on winch seals and trying to figure out the PTO driveshaft, back to the shop!

you know, you're going to finish this thing one day and not have ANYTHING left to do to it....are you ok with that?

Lambcrusher,

Hopefully, that's the plan. Good or bad, it won't be anytime soon.

I feel like I'm just getting started.

I know this is boring stuff, for most of you. But, if you have a PTO winch, you might like to look at this. I took apart the pillow blocks today and found a mess. The pictures are hard to see, but they are rusted up real good.

Pictures are of the different pieces that make up one pillow block, which none of these parts are obtainable through Toyota.

I didn't press out the small dust seal because I don't think we will be able to find anything like it. The other seal looks more like an oil seal with a felt pad inside it, hopefully something will work.

One housing, two seals, bearing, flat ring and a snap ring.

Bearing number is-- 6205DU Japan NSK 627

I'm guessing everybody's are looking like these. Really should require regular maintenance.

Tucker,

Sound good, I hope it goes well. Maybe I'll get lucky and find those two seals, also.

Thanks, Ron

So it has shielded bearing plus seals, eh?
Hmmm...
