The reason I'm interested in sliders from Cruisin is that they make a model without cat protection, for us diesel guys... and they're cheaper.

Have you looked at the Trail Gear ones? Pretty cheap and no cat protection either. You do need to cut your own legs for the front legs since the supplied ones are too short but they've worked really well for me on two 80s now. the 67" ones are the ones you want.

What roof rack is that? Looks very similar to what I want.

It was a custom built one that I bought off a mud member.

I have set from OPOR from MT. Not perfect. There is enough flex in the mount that i have VERY slight bend in the pinch weld from them flexing up and hitting the pinch welds. I think any bolt on sliders would do this if hit HARD like i have hit mine. That being said i would buy them again no problem. i have beat the HELL out of them. Put huge gouges in them and pivoted the truck on them several time intentionally making sharp turns. They work great and are 100% function able.

I have the BIOR skid plate and love it. They also make a great product but i have not looked at the sliders.

I've been told the bolt goes on top of the frame for the Cruisin sliders.

If you buy your sliders "unpainted" I highly recommend rustoleum spray on bed liner. It gives a really nice non slip texture that is smoother than the rubberized ones. Holds up well and is easy to touch up after rock rash.

If you have access to a welder the Trail Gear sliders are a hell of a deal. You'd spend the same cost on materials yourself if you were to build from scratch.

I also highly recommend BIOR for products. Mike is a really stand up guy and will work to make you exactly what you want.

I looked into BIOR because their sliders look awesome. Unfortunately he does not make slider for the 93-94 vintage that have the side by side cat configuration. I think Cruisin is gonna get my order.

How come they're so bad? The website says "lifetime guarantee". Install problems? Fit problems? Rusting out?
install [ronlems and customer service. The sliders did not fit correctly, the rear of the sliders were touching the body while the front were about 2 inches from the body. took many pictures of the install and sent them to rocky road and they weren't very helpful. They were hellbent on telling me that i had installed them wrong and that if I really thought they weren't correct that I could pay to have them shipped back and they would put it into their jig, if things were wrong (which i knew they wouldn't admit they were wrong) they would take them back and refund me the money, shipping the sliders would have cost me about $150; other option would be to pay to send them back and and pay a 20% restocking fee which would have put me out quite a bit of money. Later decided to just chop and re-weld the frame mounts. Needless to say i will do anything to keep someone from shopping with them.

Cruisin makes great stuff. Took a beating in Moab and cant even tell. For guys out of the US they are about 35% off because of the exchange!

I have the MetalTech and they are incredibly stout. The 80 has so much side clearance that you almost never hit them. I have found when you do hit them though, you hit them hard. Most of the strikes feel like they are happening on the cat protection, which makes sense as its the lowest area. Its also 1/2'' thick plate in that area so I'm never worried about them. The bump outs would be mandatory for me on any slider, there are times when they allow you a much better line as you can simply cut sharp into the rock and it will knock the rear of the vehicle around where you want it.

Are you running mudflaps with these on your new rig? Old rig?
