Hey, I have a related question....

Does anyone run the Slee Slider Steps? Do you guys know if they actually work better as a step than using a standard slider with an anti-slip coating on top? I like the having my sliders angled up, like the White Knuckle sliders (I can order them with some plate to fill them in) but, if the slider step is easy to use, I might be willing to make that compromise.

I got mine from IPOR, they make sliders but they have to have your truck in their shop, that was not an option for me. I have the Metal Tech bolt on sliders and they work great. I have tested at fall gathering. Fit was great and easy install. I decided not to have them painted and rattle canned them myself, so touch up is easy. Give them a call. 866-IRON-PIG.

Its flatter, wider, and lower, not sure hownt couldnt be more useful as a step than std construction. Probably why called step sliders ;)

Sarcasm aside; They work great as a slider and a step. I use it for entry and roof access and it works great. Been beating on them for ten years and held up fine. No regrets.

The angled up sliders may provide more clearance over some rocks but they are designed to make contact with rocks so was a moot point for me and opted to allow their extra width to keep the body away from said rocks instead.

I'm rocking some trail gears that were custom dabbed to fit my 80. Even had a detachable arm put in under the cat for added protection and accessibility. I'm happy with the end result. Saved me a couple hundred also.

So I'm leaning towards the cruisin type sliders for price and mounting reasons. However as I carefully look at sliders many of them have square edges front and back. Is this me being OCD or is it really not that much of a problem? I would think the square edge could act as a battering ram whereas I would think a ramp like edge would be more appropriate for their intended function. I understand it is right behind/in front of the tires but I could see some rare instances where a ramp edge would be more appropriate to the square edge. Whats the general consensus on this feature?

We have a group order of Cruisin sliders coming to Philadelphia. I actually emailed him about incorporating that feature into my leading edge of the slider. I'll let you know what he comes back with.

Looks good, did you use their 67" kit?

@stock do you know if the group buy closed?
@fj40toycruiser

We are just getting a break on shipping, no price deal, which I'm fine with, his price for quality if fair. He's shipping via Fastenal to Philadelphia. Coming spaced out as he can only make them so fast. Our first two sets of sliders and a skid plate are coming April 14ish. Then a few weeks after another pallet. I see you're in NH, find a Fastenal close to you, it was $250 for the pallet with two sets on there from them. There's got to be someone close to you that needs sliders.

Also, he charges a little more if you pay via PayPal. Fees and exchange rate issues. If you mail him a check it's cheaper.

@stock

I have a quote from him already but I will look around for another cruiser guy with Armor needs. I am trying to decide if i should go with his skids. The transfer part is 1/4" but the tranny part is on 3/16" I know he braces it I am just not sure how well that will hold up to the granite around here coupled with the weight of the 80. I have 1/4" on my 40 and that is just enough. Tranny's are expensive especially when you have a custom mated 6spd taco tranny. I really want to provide as much protection for that as reasonable.

I'm in NH and I'm interested... depending on price and timing. I got a quote from him for a slider/step design. With your buy, would I still be able to get this specific configuration?

@fj40toycruiser I've never got anything from him, but several of the guys in PA have and they all like his work. That coupled with the fair price AND the connection system (no U bolts) is good enough for me. We have the same rock you have up in the coal hills. He makes them to order, ask him why he thinks 1/4 is good enough, maybe he can do 3/16? Seems like a nice guy.

@fj40toycruiser Jason emailed back, he was thinking of that mod already. He's going to do it for me, so I'm sure you can. He did say that he's never had the front hit like a ram because it sits up tight to the front wheel.

White Knuckle...very happy with them

I have white knuckles on my 40 and they are great! White knuckles sliders + shipping price is bit high for my budget considering all the other armor I need. I can get the full belly transfer & tranny skids & the sliders from Jason for just a bit more than white knuckles alone. Kinda sucks living on the east coast for shipping reasons.....
