Team. I saw my first tamiya rc car in 1984 and always wanted one. Now 40 years later I finally got one. I went down the Vintage Tamiya 959 rabbit hole and found out; they are crazy expensive, fragile, and don't drive very well. So I am starting with this Escort. If I like it, I discovered you can use a vintage 959 body on a modern chassis and make an actual driveable 959. The challenge is I will need to build the chassis and it has like 1000 parts. We shall see. Merry Christmas everyone!

Those wheels look awesome. The steering on ours broke a year or so ago. Haven't fooled with it yet, but this makes me want to see if I can figure it out.
I have a feeling the steering will be the first to go in this one.

It seems easy enough tog at a servo kit.

Been loving my ascent18. Got some Meus driveshafts, meus links, Injora 24:1 trans and purple motor, injora shocks, injora beadlocks, tires and yellow inserts. Definitely an improvement and it’s a ton of fun to crawl around the house.

My front links seem to be touching at full extension and full compression. Some space between upper and lowers in the middle 70% of travel. Seems wrong as other links online have clear space throughout the suspension range of motion so not sure what’s going on there.

I think I’m going to pick one of these up for myself. Then throw the injora 45 body on it

Hard to beat the fun per dollar on these little things. They're really capable out of the box as is. @IcutYourCruiser turned me onto them.

Flip the lower links? Then they will also be your sliders, and hopefully protect the driveshaft a bit.

If you aren't worried about keeping things pretty, links can be made simply from threaded rod from the hardware store and sleeved with nylon or plastic tubing (or not at all). This allows you to alter wheelbase, link shape, pinion angle, etc for just a couple of dollars.

Good info here

I’ve got to get some other paints to do the lights, but I’m happy with where I’m at. It’s not perfect, but it’s not a show truck.

I also printed a free bumper file. It’s for an scx24, so I broke the mounts off and I’m just going to glue it to the front of the body and see how long it lasts

My little slice of RC heaven. I’ve been helping my brother in-law build a retaining wall over the last year, so of course I’m going to incorporate a playground for my crawlers. The entire thing can be crawled with multiple line options in some areas. I have access anytime I want, and it’s only a couple miles down the road.

I picked up an FMS FCX24 D110 (1:24 scale) a few weeks ago. $99, ready to run, working headlights, 2-speed transmission. It's a surprisingly good little package, all I had to do was adjust the steering trim a bit.

After these pics, I swapped in Injora brass links f&r, stainless driveshafts, and brass knuckles. This has helped immensely as this thing is a bit top-heavy/easy to roll. Also picked up 2 larger 600mah/30C batteries (vs stock 380mah/5C).

Building out a small crawler course in my backyard, and I have a huge scale crawler playground about a football field away. Once the rain stops, I'll get some pix or video on my little course. Really enjoying this thing!
