Yeah, having solid comms out in the middle of nowhere is priceless. Good on you guys for grabbing that topper. I think the Land Cruiser community is Utah Parks Depts favorite group of wheelers because of stuff like that.

I know! I was hoping to trail ride with you guys, but I don’t have portals haha maybe I’ll get the invite when I get some dissent armor. I’m really considering the high clearance rear bumper. Tired of smacking my hitch receiving on everything.
You guys were hauling though. Gotta say you looked comfy in the 250!

I was comfy. I took every easy line I could find. No sense in beating up the LC250 if no one was filming and it saves my old back. LOL
Had to do a quadruple take driving up the 101 today. Assuming it was this rig that was parked at the Fire Station north of Gilroy? @RustyLinkz Absolutely killer stance in person. Wanted to pull off the highway to stop and drool, but had somewhere I needed to be.

You got that right. I’ve been daily driving it because I sold my stock 80 series to a buddy. Currently looking for another car and in the meantime putting miles on the big girl.

Yup! I took my wife there for a weekend trip. Beautiful day. Got skunked by the fires on 1 near Big Sur so we couldn’t find dispersed camping.
We’re heading to SLC tomorrow for cruiser fest now!
we also fell victim to molera and pfeiffer closures! have fun in slc

Drove the family out to SLC for Cruiser Fest.
I heard Shaun Whale from 4WD 24/7 was speaking so we had to make the trip. I’ve been watching their show on YouTube since they started on that platform (never saw their DVDs).
Graham and Shaun definitely inspired my love of “touring” as they call it. Bush fixes, beers around the campfires, camp cooking, water crossings, steep hill climbs. I loved it all.
When @UZJ40 and @TrailBornRunner told me they were both going I knew I had to take time off to see some friends. Even though our tires never hit the dirt, it was a fantastic weekend.
Riley entered his URJ45 into the show and it should have won the “People’s Choice” award. He was 1 vote from first place, only to be beaten by a stock-ish 55 series with a funky paint job
Trevor wasn’t able to finish his ZF8HP swap in time so he brought his 80 series down and I took his spot in the show. Thanks buddy.
I was lucky enough to be standing next to my car when Shaun came poking around and I was able to tell him a little bit about it and he was bewildered to see a 100 series on 40” tires. Australia has stringent laws regarding tire size, suspension lift, and vehicle modifications so seeing a car that would normally be on 33s was astounding to him. We talked briefly on tire size laws and the pros and cons of each; when everyone constantly upsizes, the trails erode faster. But in order to do the fun trails, you need big tires (Fordyce, Runicon, etc). Keeping everyone on a level playing field has its own benefits. Trails don’t erode as quickly, gotta rely on driving ability over vehicle ability. I enjoy the freedom of choice though and I’m happy I’m able to legally run 40s on a semi-daily driver. It’s just more fun…
I was even able to get an autograph on the most recent issue of the Toyota trails magazine with his “Dirty30” on the cover.
Later in the day during the award ceremony he gave an award to his favorite cruiser at the show. Lo and behold, he chose my cruiser as his favorite. I was elated. I’ve never won an award like this in my life. I’m bummed Trevor’s rig wasn’t in the show but that allowed me to take his place and meet another hero of mine.
Overall 10/10 trip. Wife and baby in tow. 1600 miles, 4 days of driving (2 there, 2 back) and 1 full day packed with fun, friends, and cruisers. Cant wait for the next trip with these guys, and Callie/ Kiva as well.

That really was a fun weekend... about as much fun as you can have hanging out in a parking lot all day then a KOA in an industrial area at night!
