In supporting the tech insp I'll toss this out there too: there will be copious parts and assistance at hand. You'll get on the trail; just a little safer than when you arrived in some cases.

I suggest doing PM's and going over your rig starting soon. You'd be surprised what pops up out of the blue. Haven't had any catastrophic failures but there have been some interesting things occur over the years.
Brakes, steering and cooling are a few. Loose steering wheel nut and seat mount bolts are a few that come to mind. If you don't have a fire extinguisher please get one. They are cheap and can save you a ton of money and work.
Broken parts are usually easy to get shipped in if needed.

Casey's point above will take care of most all concerns that anyone may have regarding an inspection.

I think tech inspections are a good thing. I am more than happy to help out with that as well. We would need a list of what we would be looking at a few months in advance so everyone can be ready. On the other hand part of the beauty of SAS is its non rigid format, at least for me . I think we should just advise if the driver wishes to continue knowing the risk we should let them.. @Broski No love for the dubs ?? haha. I almost took it to Cruise moab like that last year. My stickies didnt show up until 2 hrs before we left..

Ha ha nice looking Buggy, did you build it and do you have a build thread or sheet ?
I’m sure the dubs have there place you know.
Just not on anything I own 😉😜😆

Yep…rear shocks are important to have when in the San Jaun’s. Actually…I’d prefer to have them on any road condition I’m encountering. Beyond that, I’m a fan of both leaf and coil. But my rear rolls on leafs cause I’m a huge 60 series fan. 80’s are definitely the best engineered cruisers. But leaf’s and a standard trans satisfy my personal interest. Always say “to each their own”. I’ll still sit around the camp fire, drink Jarrods beer and listen to the constructive conversation :). Look forward to it.

Coil springs, manual trans, toyota v8 ultimate trifecta!

Get it to SAS and let's swap for a day. Let's see what each of us can learn and improve.

Yes i built it with alot of help from the fab guys when I worked at proffitts. I kind of did a build thread in the hard care section . But I already had it finished before I joined this site. Dubs are a joke man I used them for rollers while I was waiting on my stickies..

I sold my 1993 Toyota Hiace today which is very sad because of all the great memories we had in it but also very good news for me having a front locker, knuckle rebuild, and onboard air by the time SAS comes around.

Knuckle job isn’t bad (messy) can be done in a weekend. Might look to Zuk at Gearinstalls.com for the front locker. Sounds like that rig of yours will be built up for SAS.
