"Finished" the first iteration of the platform. Top access panels are hinged with heavy duty piano hinges which are functional but I don't love that they stick up. I may try to come up with another solution down the road but for now I'm calling this project done minus staining it which will happen after my event this weekend.

Goal is to store all my tools and spares in the middle storage and then keep the rear drawer just for camping gear. Ideally this will significantly cut down on stuff being stored on top of the platform and will keep the weight down low.

ive built something similar in my new tundra and instead of staining it i would suggest getting some really durable thick outdoor floor mats and glue them down using
vinyl plank glue, the thickness will make the piano hinges flush and you can slide heavy boxes over and past them easily, it also gives a more factory look to the built in's, paining it all black and using black carpet makes everything disappear visually too

Another perk is access to the tools if the rear hatch is unable to be opened for some reason.

Few updates over the past few days.

I installed some new speakers to replace the ones that blew on my trip to CO last year. Much better!

Secondly, I finally got a dedicated set of truck tools! I took advantage of the 40% off Quinn at HF last week and bought a master technician set ($240) that I put in some new tool rolls (Tool Rolls) from Official tool roll that were also on sale. This allows me to keep these in the truck and no longer have to pack tools out of my box into bags for trips and then pack back into my box when I get home. The Quinn stuff seems good enough to work when I need it but not too nice that I'll feel bad having expensive tools just sit in the truck all the time. Then I organized the larger and other tools into a tool bag I won in the raffle at SAS last year and that rounds out my tool kit. They will all live in my new front storage compartment. I also am building a spare hardware kit in a packout including knuckle/hub hardware, brake hardware, and other spares. I will also be storing my spare parts in this compartment as well that I keep with me.

Having dedicated tool sets is really nice, also, I just installed those same speakers.

I've never seen that SAS bag. How did I miss that??

Also check out Adventure Tool Company. Pricey but super quality stuff. I just bought one to make a trauma/bleeding first aid kit.

Breaking your thumb at a junkyard and looking around at a bunch of panicked faces and no on-site first aid kit, only to realize you're the only one with experience and a kit in your truck made me realize I needed to get more serious about what I carry. I mean, same goes for tools though. 8 out of 10 times someone breaks down on a trail they don't have any tools or at least not the right ones. It's nice to have a good organized kit ready to go.

oohhh...Tool Roll, maybe this is what I needed in my life. Thanks for posting. Just this weekend I had to fix one of our camp trucks in a pretty remote area. I packed a sh!t ton of my tools in a "Tupperware" box.

I got lucky in the raffle with the bag!

I do have a pretty comprehensive first aid kit including a trauma kit. I have the bulk of it mounted on the side of my platform with a quick release handle. The rest of the kit lives in the front storage section with the tools. Luckily, its only use thus far has been to address a light dog bite on the face of a kid at GSMTR last year.

Better photo of that rear seat sticker on the door jamb? Never seen that!
Interesting. I never thought twice about it since I thought all of the 60s had it. I’ve never even read it until now lol

Never seen that. Those little hooks on the top of the seat back to hold the belts, Toyota added those when they did my fuel tank recall. Both times. Maybe the early trucks didn't have them and didn't come with the sticker. I've never owned a later 60. Cool though!

Took the rear seats out to build out my platform to cover the second row to make sleeping easier and realizing I never have more than 1 person in the truck with me usually. Got the base laid on a spare set of rear seat mounts and it can tip up which is nice. Still trying to mentally lay out what all I want to put in there before I locate the walls. Plan now is to put a 5-10 gallon water tank in there, relocate the amp and subwoofer, and come up with a tool storage cubby to get my tools out of my rear drawer to keep that for camping supplies. Open to ideas as well.

It’s a work in progress.

Existing rear platform.

I would consider getting the water tank under the platform if possible. It will help keep your center of gravity low. Ironman4x4 has a lot of different shapes that might work.

Did a quick knuckle refresh on Sandy after I found some play at 12 and 6. At first I thought it was trunnions so I replaced those and problem was still present. Turns out the wheel bearings had loosened up (broken in finally) after my trip out west so retorqued them and all is well again. Ready for Relic Run in a few days!

Shoutout to @cruisermatt for shipping my rebuild kit out same day and with some swag that Sandy is now sporting on her rear window.

More hotness from @TRFarmers! Rear headliner trim pieces for 60/62. As always, these are perfect reproductions of the factory pieces as with everything they make. I’m happy to finally replace my old broken ones. These complement the new headliner nicely. Now to clean up my d pillars to match.

That whole dome light assembly is still available FYI, not just the lens. Same with the cargo dome light too.

Yeah I think I actually have both new ones in my parts stash. This one was from @Rockymtnreaper in a goodie box I got a while back that I could more easily access.
