Facebook pics show the truck upright and the Chinese snorkel seems to have saved the day LOL!

I need to install my Chinese dorkels on my 80s!

What epic trail do you plan on flopping wheeling next year ? :hillbilly:

Flopped on the rubicon

I'm glad everyone was ok and hope you are out and back to civilization. Good luck with the repairs but as Linus says they are a finite resource, please just stick to flopping one rig only.

X2 on removing plugs. Especially if you are on the driver's side, it will fill up the intake very quickly. Be prepared to have oil shoot everywhere when you turn it over though. In the interests of not making a mess, maybe throw a towel over the valve cover to slow the oil down and another under the truck to catch it. Good luck!

YES cover the plug holes when shooting the oil out. When I did it it ricocheted off the hood and got all over a bunch of camping gear 8 feet in front of the truck.

Yeah...flopping seems to be what I do best. I was on auto pilot talking with my buddy and underestimated how off camber and steep this turn was. Totally driver error. Just glad nobody was hurt. The recovery was a pain too. We didnt have a good anchor point and the angles were really tough. Once it was upright I pulled the plugs and turned it over then put it back together and it ran perfect. Were back home now and I'll wait for a week or two to decide what I'm going to do with it. I'll either part it out or sell it as it sits. Thanks again for all the help

On the bright side...at least it rolled on the same side as Rubicon.

Unless you're going the mini truck/truggy route or giving up wheeling, I vote keep it as is.:hillbilly:

You could always chop the top to finally lower the CG.

Please don't get another Land Cruiser whatever you do...get a Tacoma or a 4Runner, they're a Dime a dozen. I say you keep the 80 and make a tray back Ute or something out of it. If I ever rolled mine like that and had enough to salvage you bet I'd try welding the back half of an extended cab t100 or tundra on there.

Ouch! Looks like a tough spot for recovery for sure.

Full cage and aluminum roof skin gets my vote.

I'll take the sliders! (What, too soon?)
:poof:

Nope, about right ;)

I'm in for the belly pan :poof: :poof: :poof:

@jp_waltz --- Serious note, not throwing salt your way at all - you got a thing for the light flop (nobody can say you're not game for a run, that's for sure!!! :steer::steer:).

----- How about a back-half exo cage, nothing too crazy, tie to sliders & rear bumper & have it on some slip-pipe / pipe-in-pipe you weld to the bumper & sliders.

Really 2 or 3 vert hoops over the B & C/D tied together, a couple gusset pipes but still use the doors & have all the rear access & slider windows.

Tie it to the rack as a rear anchor for a RTT, use ~ 2 crossbars forward of that (heck, a flipout 'porch' & a oh-so-stylish rear 1/4 ladder to it even!)

Seriously, it would be unique as you fab it, and it'll save your quarters & rear door functionality.

Don't feel too bad, a flop can happen in a moment of inattention, momentary lapse in concentration, or just plain bad driving (as was in my case):

Sometimes the rocks win....

Everyone made it out safe, you have a story to tell, and now you don't have to worry about where to put your disposable income. It's just an 80 series land cruiser at the end of the day, despite dire predictions, you can probably get another decent condition one for 6k and just transfer all your stuff.

The real irreparable damage is to your ego, that's going to take a while to fix :flipoff2:

Rubber side down, boys! (<-- rolled yota club member)

If you can get a fresh windshield in there, I say keep it. Damage doesn't make it much uglier than it already was with the bedliner and whatnot (no offence to the bedlined crew, but it's not like you do it to look pretty).

IDK, maybe the EGO, thing with your driving record, is irreparable :flipoff2:, glad everyone is ok
