Really looks like you've put a lot of good work into it. Nice rig.

Good job!
In picture #12 concerning the tach. What kind is it? It looks good and the dash pad is cut to fit around it. Is this a P.O. fit or is it stock? I like the way the dash pad has the curve and would to do this to mine.

It's a VDO 333-051 tach put in by the PO. He said he cut the dash pad too. It's very good. You can see some scratches due to the beer he drank before he cut out the hole.

I found the same tach here for $80 shipped, if you want one:

Hi All:

"FastEddy," nice truck, and nice job!

I think it is great that you have gotten both of your kids involved!

The H41/t-case swap will work well for you; the only drawback is the shift pattern of the H41 is much "wider" than that of the H42.

Regarding the "Aussie Locker," I bought one from their website in early January without any issues.

Enjoy your FJ40!

Regards,

Alan

Nice read, nice truck.

Keep up the good work.

Nice 40 you got yourself there. I'm looking forward to reading that thread on your half doors.

Very nice rig. love the color.

New Tranny Update!

I got the trans ready in time for my camping trip on Friday.

I noticed a drop of fluid after driving it for the weekend. I might not have tightened the t-case drain plug enough.

It's really whiney. MustardFJ40, from whom I bought the case, said it has all new gears. Surprising? Did I put in too many thrust washers on the rear output? I didn't measure it with a spring scale, but it doesn't feel tight at all.

The new pilot bearing caused a bit of a scare. It drags when new, so it feels like the clutch is still partially engaged. I figured it out pretty quickly, and it's already getting better.

The 2-low mod is awesome! I use it all the time. It's great to have two reverse gears.

I'll post up driving impressions of the h41 later.

Eddy, the 3spd xferase is noisy than the 4spd xfercase, yes, I stand by my words: all gears are new except the high speed output gear. I would love to refund you money. Thanks :)

Oh, I see how that might get misunderstood. I wasn't questioning if it had new gears. I was just asking if anyone thought the new gears might be noisy for a while until they were broken in. Sorry if I gave you or anyone else the wrong idea.

Thanks again for the great deal, the help and the loan of the jack.

Man that looks good. What kind and size are those tires?
