At first I thought this was the one for the red hood you got from me, quickly realized it wasn’t. What was mine for if you don’t mind me asking? Actually, have you gotten it from Steve?

The top sides had some kind of sticky funk on them but the CLR cut through it. They polished up nicely. More reflector porn. These are new OEM. This 1969 takes 4. I think he provided 32.

Next I start the long crappy job of rebuilding both axles with 3.70 gears, disc brakes and 10mm brake lines.

What is this 2 piece running board you speak of? Like a board and a separate outer band?

Early boards had a base with an upper rubber/vinyl pad and an upper outer ring to secure the pad. In October 1969 the pad and ring were dropped. The board then had a lower frame with a one piece metal upper plate. In September of 1973 the board became a one piece stamping.

Were all the vinyl pads the white diamond material?

At some point I need to find a repro pad for mine. Way down on the list though.

This method of breaking apart the 55 year old bond between axle and third member is handy for old folks

When I pull 3rds for a swap, I always put the rear from the donor into the front. That way the 3rd with the least amount of use is moved to the rear.
