Rolled the cruiser, let the fun begin!

I'm another NAXJA member that left and ended up over here in MUD, where I do love to be.

I'm still a member of NAXJA (I still have the MJ), and there are a few good ones left over there, but it has changed A LOT. Still no reason to come over here and talk trash to us kind Cruiser lovers...

Besides BGN72 Country or whatever your signal is, I know we can come up with a youngun' doing some parking lot drifts in a perfectly nice black XJ, and rolling... Don't tempt us.

Yup, being young and stupid ( I say this in a nice kind of way), is something all of us prob went through... MR (that's Mickey of the Rubicon) still seems to be doing it even after 30. :D My thing was street racing, at 130+ MPH... Not all of us survived those days.

I still have to say that my Dad would of knocked my teeth out, had I made a similar mistake. I wouldn't be keeping a car, and certainly not getting another one... Me and Schwinn would've become best friends again. :D

What an F'n Dork! Rolling your 80?:crybaby:

Not that I ever rolled my 2002. I put new tires on my first Yeti and rolled it. Worst frik'n wrist break i have ever had. OUCH!

Take care of the body parts. No one was hurt so you got away with it this time.:bounce: It is actually kinda fun to roll a car/truck, eh?:grinpimp: Pound it out and get to work on a cage. It sounds like you will need it!

something must have struck a deep-seated fear or morbid curiiosity here at MUD...

do we all have some sort of ingrained rollover issue that gets easily triggered? :)

Just concern...

Glad nobody was seriously hurt, and that you were born with an extra kidney to injure.

If you're parting it out, I want the KFC coupon.

hope all is well, the cruiser can be replaced or repaired. just be glad that you were able to walk away from this accident with minor injuries. good luck!

Rolling a vehicle sucks, but you got to admit its fun!:D Glad everyone is ok. Good luck with whatever you decide to do with it.

rolling an 80

I've been reading these post and biting my lip the whole time. Remember it is your 80 do what you want to do with it; roll it, dint it, s*** through the sunroof if you want to(As long as you only hurt yourself). One of these days you will have a great story to talk about with your buddies around a fire and a beer. Everyone of us has done something stupid when we were young and got away with it. Some of these guys forgot they were once young and made of rubber. Maybe if they took some time from knocking your spelling and got out of the house maybe they could have some memories to talk about. (Skillet) Before you correct my spelling I'm not an english major either. I chose the safe road I'm a pilot.

Advice-Don't take my earlier poking fun at you as "young person bashing". It certainly isn't.

You ARE young, and from the sounds of things, inexperienced. With that as an assumption, I would sell the hulk of your wreck and start over. The reason, is that unless you have lots of $$, and even more time, none of the options you have put forth are any good. To tube that, by a pro like Luke Porter will run to thousands of dollars fast and probably $4-5000 to complete. Not to mention the 6-12 months of calender time before you get it back. It will leave you with a trailer only 80 series-what good is that? If you go cheap and try to booger something together yourself, you will be left with undrivable junk.

The body work to fix it will easily cost $10,000, as much as the whole thing is worth. So unless you have gold plated insurance, or tons of your own money, this one is a goner.

My advice would be to sell or part out for what you can get, and buy a mini-truck if you want to keep 4 wheeling. They are cheap to build, cheap to buy and cheap to run. Well, cheaper than a Cruiser anyway. There will still be Land Cruisers to buy and play with once you have a real job and get yourself established.

Good luck, but in the end, I think you are done with 80 series Land Cruisers, at least for awhile.

Very well said and to the point.

This is an unbelievably stupid stunt and you are very fortunate to be alive and whole. I wager that many of us have had similar experiences that scared some sense into us and that is the reason that some of us (including myself) have been able to survive past middle age.

I did a very stupid thing over a quarter century ago and I think of it often and it still scares the hell out of me.

Good news everyone. My dad has a friend in the insurance company, not to mention hes a lawyer, and they say they will cover the cruiser. They will give me roughly 11,000 if I total it to a junk yard. I will then buy it from the junkyard for around 800 and have a good amount of money left. I am so relieved. I have a family friend with a body shop in Tahoe City, and we've been disucussing possible set ups. It really sounds like hes going to do this for me, for cheap! I will keep everyone updated!

Last piece of unsolicited advice. You can get a very nice, very un-rolled 80 for 11,000. Use your head for something other than a 80 rollover stopper.

All's well that ends.... (meh)

I am glad it is going to work out. I fear you have fallen in a barrel of s*** & turned it into gold.

I don't see how a person can walk away from a situation like this and learn a lesson.

Daddy's a lawyer! Well your insurance company may pay for this one accident but I bet you are "toast" as a policyholder with them in the future. Save your 11k for future premiums to be able to just afford driving something ......a corolla perhaps?
