Couple bits of advice for those wanting to do this:
-The CEL grounds at the ECU, I can't imagine I was/would be the first to assume that the ECU powers it and it grounds on the other side. I decided to be consistent with the FSM and tap one lead of the light to the back of the gauge fuse, and run the other lead to the ECU
-if you don't have a EFI main relay I wouldn't bother sinking 100 bucks on one from toyota, or even a used one. All it is is a SPST, which you can get new from Checker for 10 bucks as long as you're willing to change the connection.
-Head Bolts. Earlier I said that I was using the 3fe head bolts. My dad tried to use them and said that they bottomed out, I guess the 2f head is a lot taller. He went ahead and used the 2f bolts and said it went ok. No compression test has been done but it seems to have a good seal.
-Distributor. I was told this would be a plug and play, but for some reason when I put it in the curved slot that the bolt goes through was significantly offset (to the inside) from the bolt hole in the block. After widening the slot with a grinder tool I was able to thread in the bolt and it's been fine.
I ended up using an external pump from Summit Racing. Other than it randomly not pumping even though it had power (maybe pulled in some rust from the tank after the initial startup) and then all of a sudden working again, it seems to be a quality buy.
EDIT: I shouldn't be so quick to put a bad name on summitt, my wiring job was a little hit and miss. I even left the rig in the on position and cold start injector loose by accident for a few hours, came back to the garage with gas spewing everywhere, the pump running for who knows how long and it's still doing fine nearly a year later. But again, it's driven all of 7 miles to the exhaust shop so time will tell. The one thing I don't like is that the terminals are completely exposed. I'll have to put some paint-on insulation on it.
I'm sure there's a lot of other hiccups that come with putting the engine together, but since I was gone for most of the assembly I don't have much wisdom to offer.
