Guessing here. Machine off enough to get flat, then use a flat spacer to get linkages, et al, at correct height. ??

N.b. using Haast Stayfast Tan/Tan. Clear Vinyl is thicker. It's what is used on Flybridge Canopies on Boats. High UV resistance, doesn't pucker , prism or yellow. Fittings are genuine oem or as close to original as I have been able to source over the last 10yrs. It should be amazing! 🤞

Vader light override general pull switch that incorporates genuine early 40 series type heater Switch Bracket
Old post, but my unmolested '64 Aussie sourced '40 has its original Vader light switch going through the hole where you put the fog light switch. I, like you, added the fog light through an original heater switch panel hole since it doesn't have a heater like yours

Just have to find a Starter!
Mine fried itself on start up attempt a few weeks ago.
I would reach out and see if anyone around you knows anyone who rebuilds electrical motors, starters or alternators.

I’ve had several starters rebuilt with great luck!
